CarsLand at Hollywood Studios?
Hey everyone,
Today I came across an article on the Dis Boards with a rumor that Cars Land could be coming to Hollywood Studios to replace Lights, Motors, Action..
Although I do agree that Lights, Motors, Action needs to go, I don't agree that Cars Land is the answer..
1. This park needs something original. People aren't going to bother coming here to Carsland if they can go to the original in California.
2. The "Cars" films weren't even that spectacular.
3. The Park's theme is supposed to be "classic Hollywood glitz and glamour" and I feel as though the imaginears have completely lost sight of that.
What are your thoughts? Heres the article:

I would not worry too much about that unless the attendance at the show is way down. Remember, they are still running a stage musical based off a 20 year old movie that is out of date in terms of story telling and animation style.
The notion of "It's in one park so don't build it in the other" doesn't quite work because WDW has a stronger tourist pull than DLR (who has a stronger local pull) and this actually causes some problems, which I will talk about in a second.
There are a few big reasons they probably won't do it, the big one is that the centerpiece attraction (Radiator Springs Racers) is not only a clone of one of their existing rides but it's just down the river from DHS. The other is that Orlando gets way more rain than we get here, and I think they may have learned that rides like that are worthless to WDW because the ride closing rains also happen during the busy times of the year.
So, with WDW being more tourist centered, they also realize that their patrons do not return that frequently so they can space out new rides/lands much more than DLR does.

I can see them at least working on a new spot to meet Lightning and Mater. The one they have now is just a little square, which is right next to the meet for Phineas and Ferb, which kinda ruins the whole scene when theres a background for one character right next to the background for another.

Re: CarsLand at Hollywood Studios?
I would just like them to do some updates to DHS - like how about updating the Backlot Tour? It is such a great ride and experience. I remember the first time going on it and getting so excited to see all of the different movie sets and props and they literally haven't updated any of that stuff since it first opened. They either need to change it all together or be more timely in switching out props, etc.
Since it is no longer a 'working studio' they really need to step up their game and figure out a way to bring some of that magic back!

I have to agree here. There's only so many times you can watch the canyon scene and then go look at the Pirates of the Carribean and Star Wars costumes.Belle1082 wrote:I would just like them to do some updates to DHS - like how about updating the Backlot Tour? Re: CarsLand at Hollywood Studios?
I actually have to disagree and say I would like to see Cars Land in Hollywood Studios! I actually am not even a huge fan of the Cars movie, but looking at pictures of Cars Land In Disneyland, it looks very cute and well done! It is like being in the movie.
The fact that it is in Disneyland means nothing to me, as I never go there. I am closer to WDW and enjoy the experience of having all of the different parks. Therefore, I would never go to Disneyland just to see Cars Land. As for it not fitting the Hollywood Studios theme, I don't see this as an issue. There is one area that is old Hollywood like (Sunset Boulevard) but other areas incorprate Pixar, which is fine too. Animation has always been part of Hollywood Studios.

I would have to disagree as well. I think having Cars Land would be great! It is something you could obviously ride over and over again, where as Lights Motor Action is a one time visit at best. There is a lot of wasted space in Hollywood Studios.
The theory of having the same rides in Disneyland and WDW is one that they have done since the inception of WDW. The Magic Kingdom has mostly similar rides to Disneyland and that seems just fine I think because most people are usually visiting one coast or the other and not both, unless you live in the middle of the country and switch off. I would love to see Cars Land here!!! I hope they do it!

Re: CarsLand at Hollywood Studios?
This is such an excellent point. I've been thinking about what I like in DHS and it's really only a few things. Tower of Terror, Rock 'n Rollercoaster, Star Wars Tours, Muppets 3D (doesn't matter that I've done it 109387 times before, I love it), and if we can get on without waiting a thousand years, TSMM. I want to do the Backlot tour this year because I've never done it, and I want to meet Sulley, but beyond that, I don't have much interest in DHS. It's a lot of sitting and watching, and not much doing. I can watch "shows" at home. The stunt show is the same, and nothing I'm interested in, same with the cars/action show, same with almost everything else. If the idea is to convey a classic Hollywood theme, they need more immersive environments, which Cars Land is designed to do, as far as I can tell.cousininmiami wrote:I would have to disagree as well. That's also why I regard DHS as a half day thing (and the EMH), and DAK as a morning thing. I don't really care about the most of the rides since we have exact replicas at DLR, the shows are really old and fantasmic is a war crime compared to the DLR version.
Re: CarsLand at Hollywood Studios?
I am not a fun of building the same attractions at each Disney park. Of course, I don't mind some, but it just seems like over the last 10-15 years it has been more of a build X at this park and make it the same at this park, etc... I would like some uniqueness.

I'd love to just see an attraction that could ride over and over again, but that is totally original. Something old Hollywood themed... That's what made Tower of Terror so cool. It's based on The Twilight Zone .. an old-hollywood style t.v show... They've totally forgotten the theme and purpose of the park..

Although when I was a kid, they brought the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to the park and that was the greatest thing ever.

Hi wizzard 419! What is the difference between the Fantasmic shows at wdw and dlr? just wondering!Wizzard419 wrote:That's also why I regard DHS as a half day thing (and the EMH), and DAK as a morning thing. As far as cars land at Dhs,I think it might be neat! I'm not going to get to DLR anytime soon,so I'll take what I can get at wdw.I guess it really doesn't fit in with the overall theme of Dhs though, but I'll take it anyway!!

One is awful and one is good.
The big thing is the scale, since WDW build their arena rather than using the rivers of america a lot of stuff seems smaller. They also have a few segment differences apparently.
