Caribbean Beach can be a lot of walking! There is a central area with the food court, gift shop, etc, called Old Port Royale. The hotel buildings are in grouped by country/island (Aruba, Jamaica, several others), with each area having several buildings. They are located in a circle around a lake/pond. If you are on the opposite side from Old Port Royale, you have to either walk to a bridge and across the pond area or walk around the walking track. There are a few locations where that walk can be around 10 minutes.

There is a bus station at each of the countries/islands. There is also a bus station at Old Port Royale. There is an internal shuttle that stops at each bus stop, so that is one way to get from your area to Old Port Royale.

There is a lot of walking at the Caribbean Beach. The buildings are spread out and there is only the one food court in the main building ~ where you check in. There are several bus stops scattered at the different country buildings. If you get on at the main stop you have to ride around the resort to all the other bus stops. It can get aggravating when you just want to get going! Here is a copy of the resort map so you can see that it is rather spread out...I would post a picture I took from when we stayed but it is locked in the naughty, non-functioning computer :(

You actually check in at a separate building, the custom house. I frequently have stayed in Barbados, near the custom house. That would seem convenient, except the food court and gift shop are actually in a different building in a totally different place, Old Port Royale. This is different than a lot of Disney resorts, where the lobby, gift shops, and food courts are all in the same building.

Oh yeah, I remember that now. Oops  I think we stayed in Aruba once and also possibly in Martinique the other time we went.

For my entire childhood I was obsessed, so every time we went to Disney, we stayed there. I think it drove my family crazy, but being the baby of the family, I always got my way. ;-)

Well that sounds pretty comparable to where we last stayed Port Orleans Riverside. It took us about ten minutes to get from our room to the main eat/shop area by walking. They also had bus stations in your section and one at the main check in area. My daughter wanted to stay at this one because she loves the beach but we've never been to this one. Maybe some day :D

Not sure about how it is now, but we weren't crazy about the food court. Everything was sort of Caribbeanized and the scrambled eggs for breakfast just weren't quite right :?

We actually found it hilarious, even at the time. It's hard for us to be anything other than happy when we're at Disney World.

We were a little confused at first, though, wondering why nobody else was going outside!
Hoping to go back to the Magic soon.

Yes you got that right, it is hard to be anything other than happy in Disney World!

Thanks for the info Amy. Yeah Port Orleans Riverside was like that if you got on at the main bus stop you had to circle around to the other stops as well. But we still chose to do the main bus stop just to make sure we had space on the bus. Wow that map is pretty just to look at! I hope you are able to get your pics out some day, that's a bummer to have them gone like that.

It has been probably about 12 years ago now so it's difficult to remember. I'm thinking there were different spices used, perhaps some unusual ingredients. I don't remember anything being super spicy though. We didn't have a dining plan then so I would have just been eating a granola bar and a piece of fruit for breakfast anyhow. My Mom needs to eat full meals for medical reasons and she was the one who thought the scrambled eggs tasted a bit island-y... I would guess it is still the same way because the new Art of Animation food court seems to have more of a Mediterranean menu almost...so obviously they do have different things in the different resort food courts.

You're most welcome. Yeah, we've got two computers down now  Someone needs to find the time to take them in for repair, or at least to mine the data off them!
I found that map online ~ looks to be the one they give you at check-in because there is that little space for building and room info. I'm thinking we usually ended up getting on at the main stop as well so we would be sure we got a seat :D

Wow that's interesting. I guess I was just under the impression that the food courts just sold kind of the same food cooked basically the same way. Good info to keep in mind though.
