I dont think the first part is true. One of my co-workers is only a sophomore in college. My ex-roommate is graduating in May. Also a few people I know who are in the program are already done with college. I'm not sure exactly sure of the technicalities, but your best bet is to talk to a recruiter.

Hello Jedi trainees!! Yesterday was the first day of Jedi training camp or something like that. Everyday at certain times a Jedi Master will come out on stage and 'train' young apprentices. Darth Vader and random storm troopers also make an appearance. Sad to say this but, by the end of my program I may hate Star Wars  One thing that already bugs me is that the trash can at the exit of Tatooine Traders is always full- because there's usually an opened long light saber box blocking all the garbage.

So for the past couple of weeks, our hours have gotten longer and yours truly has gotten more hours to work therefore earning an almost adequate amount of money to survive as a CP. So that's one plus that's been going on.

One of my co-workers quit the other day. It's a little sad because she was real cool and always did her job right. Also I think another co-worker quit- but I'm not too positive. Our area has been experiencing a lot of no-shows and call-ins so it was really hectic and frustrating for about two weeks. We've been grabbing SKs from other areas and it just feels really lame to me. In any case, we've been getting new SKs in our area and one of them was a manager at Epcot. How do you figure that?

What's up with the weather? The past two days were freezing! But now the weather is right back up to the high 70s. I think I may have to start wearing shorts soon.

Lol, so the other night a couple of SKs were in the breakroom having dinner. After about five minutes of chatting, I look to where my pan and broom are supposed to be...and they're gone! MY pan and broom. Now you think it's no big deal and I can just get a new one any ol place. No! This was MY pan and broom set. The pan is expendible, but the BROOM is most important. I've had it for a few weeks now, and I've grown fond and rather posessive of it. So when I noticed it was gone, I got really upset and was sorta freaking out, but not. I had an idea who took it, and the guy would be there till closing anyways. So I took his pan and broom(which was nicer than mine, but still!) and kept it for a few hours. After an eternity feeling rather naked, I find the guy during our next break and snatch it. He practically runs after me(see how posessive we are?) and shouts that the broom is his. I explain that he took my stuff and hand him back his. Problem solved. :). So yeah, we're weird around here. I think some of us are so posessive of our gear is because nice equipment is hard to come by. If you pay attention to the brooms, a lot of them are messed up and janky-looking.

Last night the freakiest thing happened. Around 12:50am, I was walking from Star Tours to the Icon Hat. The park is pretty much deserted with no guests. On my way there, right about where the ABC Theatre is, I witness a mass exodus of third shift workers. All of them, wearing black jackets and pants just exited the theatre all at once. There must have been like 100 of them all coming out in streams. Then they all spread out to different areas of the park to begin their work. It was like an army of ants or something. Well it wasn't freaky, just a bit alarming becaus I have no idea what was going on.

Last thusday, I spent the entire day at MK with two co-workers. Of course we did Haunted Mansion, and one thing that's been bugging me with that ride is the audio and the lighting. Is something wrong with the audio in the doom buggy? It sounds all muddy and seems to be missing in some places. Also, in the graveyard scene, it's hard to make things out. Now is that the way it's always been? It just seems too dark to me.

No more Pirates for a while. I already miss that attraction.

Oh, and a quick OT question. Has anyone ever stayed at the Old Key West or the Saratoga Springs Resorts?

I have stayed at Old Key West many, many, many times. Any specific questions?

Well, my friends are either staying at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs. I've only taken the virtual tours of both resorts, and am not sure which one would be best for them. On my next day off, I plan to visit the resorts. I think they want a place with a nice view of...something

Well anyways, I'm off to work. Nice and quick short 6hr day. Laters.

We always stay at Old Key West, and it's pretty well-themed and most rooms have good views of ponds or fountains. Near the back there is a highway, which is visible sometimes though. Oh yeah, and in the summer you might have to watch out for golf balls!

I have not been to Saratoga Springs. Old Key West, as the first of the Disney Vacation club resorts, was built very generously. The rooms are larger than the comparable type of room at Boardwalk for example. Old Key West is very tranquil, has relatively nice scenery (with one or two exceptions as noted by Chesire Cat).

Isn't Saratoga Springs, the old Disney Institute?

No idea about the Institute.

Well here's some more little drama that's been going on. See, a good friend of mine is having little tiffs with a roommate. This has been going on since pretty much the beginning. So my friend found out my roommate left, and asked me if I would like another roommate. I hesitantly said I wouldn't mind, and if my friend wanted to, could request to move in. After I talked to my friend, and a few other roommates we were pretty cool about it, but I started to reallly go over how it would be like with that friend there pretty much 24/7. I also see this friend at work often as well, which is cool.

Well I concluded that on one hand it would be cool. Two of my roommates are friends with this friend of mine. But then it wouldn't be so cool because I really like it how it is now, with just the five of us. Especially with three of my roommates, because we have this cool roommate bond thing going on. Well, if my friend moved in, it would definitely change things around. But then I thought that things would change even if someone totally new moved in. I don't think I want this friend of mine being a roommate. Does that make sense?

So today on the bus ride home, I'm talking to my friend who actually put in the request a week ago, but then cancelled it. We're having a light conversation, and things are cool. Then I get home and find a notice on the wall. Yes, it's as you guessed- a notice about a new roommate moving in. The person could be here by Friday. To top this all off, the same friend calls me about an hour later and is so upset at something new that just happened.

The point I guess I'm trying to say is that now I feel like really tiny and about this --->( ) big. Was I being selfish as to not want my friend to move in, even when my friend was having problems? Even if my friend did move to Chatham from Vista- there's no guarantee it would be to my place. But then again, I don't think it was really fair for my friend to put my roommates(as friends) and I in that kind of position. I just feel really blah about it now.

So yeah, by next week, I'm going to have a new roommate to deal with. Yay me.

At least tomorrow our Icon Showkeepers are getting free pizza because we haven't had a worker related injury for 90 days. Or was it 60... But it's my day off and I don't know if it's worth going into work for free pizza. All I really want to do is sleep all day long.

Well if see them at work and separatly then it may be to much if they move in. The new roomate will hopefully be cool and become another friend.

A college student passing up free pizza, how dare you. :D The whole point of being a student is to mooch, now get out there and mooch.

Well I think the main reason in the beginning was that I just didn't want to share a room period. So yeah, I admit I was pretty selfish. I also wanted to keep the room to myself as long as possible before a new roommate moved in. And to some extent, it might have something to do with seeing that friend all the time. We're all dreading this new person, and hopefully they are cool.

Yeah free food! Seriously. Well if my co-worker calls me to go, then yeah free food. I hope it's Pizza Planet pizza.

Yes Pizza Planet would defnitely wake me up to go, I love that pizza. I'm craving it now!

Na I dont think you were selfous, That one person could really affect your bonding or it would really add to it. I think you should just treat this new person as a friend and be very open, Try not to let them feel like an outcast.

Most definitely. We'll try our best to make them feel at home. I just have a few rules for the room. I hope the person doesn't have too much food, cuz there ain't no room in our fridge.

Well it turns out my co-worker didn't call me. But today is EPCOT(each paycheck comes on Thurs), so I hopped on the bus and went to the Studios. I passed by fellow cast members and chatted for a while and even got some of the free pizza. It was Take 5 pizza, so no Pizza Planet :(. BTW, Take 5 is our cast member cafeteria.

Then I decided to go on the Great Movie Ride. I really like that ride despite all the cheesy acting. But it's a little weird being spieled to by people you see all the time at work.

Then it was time for Fantasmic. That show is so awesome. Too bad there were a lot of gnats out tonight. People were trying to clap them to death. It was pretty funny. The crowd seemed to be really in it. Clapping and cheering when it started and when Mickey shows up for the first time.

A quick comment about the Great Movie Ride. I know it's in the script, but it always makes me laugh when each person doing the spiel says that horror is their favorite genre of movies. Anyhow, gotta love the details of that ride. Hooray for Hollywood!

So I e-mailed someone different that I found on my school's webpage. They are the career Development center and they were the ones holding the Internship Fair last Wednesday. So I wrote an e-mail to their address and this is the response I received:

Hi Derek,

I have a brochure with some information about the Walt Disney World College Program and will be happy to forward it to Lori Martin. Is that what you would like me to do. I have been told the seminars are very good and geared towards managment students. It is probalbly equivalent to 3 college credits.

Stop in or call me at the # below and I will be happy to speak with you.

Debby Cabral Martin

I'm so happy that someone has finally heard about the College Program. I will defnitely go see sometime this week :)
