Re: Old Disney Stuff
I never had the opportunity to go to Disneyworld as a kid, but my wife did. I'll have to see if I can find it, but she showed me the tickets they used around 1976. It wasn't a pay one price admission and go on whatever attraction you wanted. You had to buy tickets based on "tiers" of the attractions. I think there were 5 different tiers. The bigger attractions (like Haunted Mansion) were more expensive. It is certainly much better now. I'll try to find it and post it.

Ah yes, the ABCDE ticket books. We had those on our first trip to WDW. We ended up "cashing" in leftover tickets when we returned around 1983. Both my Mom and I wish we would have kept the tickets instead!kosmosworld wrote:I never had the opportunity to go to Disneyworld as a kid, but my wife did. I love historical stuff. I collect park maps and planning VHS/DVDs.
Re: Old Disney Stuff
My mom said the same thing. She went in 1972 and talked about how the submarines were an E ticket and my grandfather wouldn't let them buy any E tickets for it.kosmosworld wrote:I never had the opportunity to go to Disneyworld as a kid, but my wife did. I always thought it was funny that the monorail was at one time an "E" Ticket attraction. Not only did you essentially have to pay to get on, but they charged it as though it was one of the premier park rides like Pirates or the Haunted Mansion.

I would have counted the monorail among the E ticket attractions. Not too many places where you can ride one ~ probably even fewer places way back then! I don't remember if we rode it when we visited in 1976 though.Mr.ToadWildRider wrote:I always thought it was funny that the monorail was at one time an "E" Ticket attraction. Tampa has one too, their's is kind of set up weird (if I recall) you go through a pre-security check, get into the lounge for the shuttles, then you get to your terminal and go through the full inspection.

I have an old WDW back scratcher from maybe the early 80s. It belonged to my grandparents and I always loved using it when I went to visit with them. It was one of the things I got from them before they passed and I still cherish it. I love the fact that it has the original WDW font on it before everything got all stylized...and of course before everything turned into "Disney Parks". The white on it is now a cream or yellow color because of its age...but I love it.

I love this! Mickey looks like the earliest Mickeys (Steamboat Willie).theBIGyowski wrote:I have an old WDW back scratcher from maybe the early 80s. I think they sell one very similar to this now. Of course it has the new font/logo and I think Mickey is a little more updated, but I remember seeing one just like this.

Re: Old Disney Stuff
Wow, that new one looks exactly like the old one except for the font! Guess this was a case of "if it ain't broke..."
