TOTALLY agree with the writer - too many "meet and greets" !!!!! These are super-cheap for Disney to operate but IMHO it's just a long line to stand in and wait, rather than enjoy the original purpose of DLR and WDW. The more I read, the more it seems that WDW is becoming more focused on being a cash cow and less focused on what Walt intended - a way for families to leave the everyday world and be immersed in Disney fantasy. That saddens me.
Yeah and what happened with just main characters being out and about like Mickey, Pluto, etc? I remember our kids earlier trips we would just run into the characters like Pluto outside Magic Kingdom and Mickey right at the front of Animal Kingdom. This last time it didn't seem this way. I know they had meet and greets back then too but I'm just wondering if they are doing away with the more casual Disney characters experiences.

Very interesting. Much better for families with active children!

I loved the Dateline Disney World update with all the photos of Snow White. I'm sad that the attraction is being closed for a meet-n-greet...

I love this idea! They're on to something, with the pager system.

Saw it on the Hub. Smart idea! I wonder if it works out if this will be something implemented elsewhere on property. It seems like a good plan.

I wonder if this idea came out of a brainstorming session amongst Diz management and imagineers after that Dumbo incident some time ago (where one woman in line attacked another woman on the claim she jumped ahead in line)?

Whoa that doesn't sound good, glad I wasn't there for that.

Possibly, or they might have just looked at how the line system presently used is about as entertaining as waiting in line at the DMV.

It might be worse. At least the DMV is usually air conditioned!

And at the DMV one rarely has young children bumping into them, or whining about when it's their turn to ride, or pulling on the ropes for the queue...

That wasn't at Dumbo, that was at the Tea Cups.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”

Now that you mention it, you're right. Thanks for the correction. But I still wonder if that incident has gotten the people at Diz wondering what can be done to change things to prevent those kind of incidents from recurring.

Possibly, they need a way to keep the people penned in (so the transponders won't get lost/stolen) and near enough to the rides so that there isn't this 20 min gap. If there were a realistic way to do it, it might actually be nice to do away with all lines.
