I did that for years, kept going to get in line, then at the last second changing my mind. Once I finally went on, I was very apprehensive for the first few trips, and we still have the picture from my first time, I was in the front row and I had a legit terrified scream. Now it's one of my favorite attractions.BenB wrote:Yeah, Splash Mountain is one I still haven't done. I keep "almost" doing it but wimping out. I REALLY don't like drops/roller coasters/etc.

Rock N Roller Coaster, baby
The first time I was going to do this ride, I was basically having a breakdown in the queue line. I don't think I've ever cried that hysterically, or hyperventilated since then. And because I am a massive masochist about theme park rides, I made myself get on it anyway. I honestly don't even remember that first ride. I didn't ride again until I'd conquered my fear of roller coasters... last year.

I was nervous on Rock n Roller Coaster my first time too. It was so funny, I was seated next to an older lady. She looked over and asked me if it was my first ride on the coaster and I said yes. She must have sensed I was nervous because she reached over and patted my hand that was clinging to the over the shoulder restraint quite tightly. It was such a touching little gesture from a stranger. Of course I loved the attraction and never had any problems getting on it againDemonOfMusic wrote:Rock N Roller Coaster, babyThe first time I was going to do this ride, I was basically having a breakdown in the queue line. Aww, that's so nice! I think someone tried to do something similar for me when I rode the first time... but the whole day is kind of a blurAmy wrote:I was nervous on Rock n Roller Coaster my first time too. I went through the single rider line on everest and was put next to a woman who was riding it for the first time. She had avoided it several times but finally her kids covined her to try it. She was talking her way through it, and was so nervous. She kept saying things like "this isn't bad, we're going to be ok" When we got to the top and stopped, she was so confused and asked if it was broken. I said "you may want to hold on" when she asked why we started moving backwards and I've never heard louder screams! She did thank me for not ruining it though

Well I've been riding Dinosaur ever since I was at least 11, but I never had my eyes open. Only just last year (when I was 21) did I see the whole ride for the first time ever.
Would that be considered "conquering", since technically I'm still terrified of it??

You rode Dinosaur all that time with your eyes closed?! Wasn't it scarier in your imagination?? I think you've conquered it if you finally rode it with your eyes openkelato89 wrote:Well I've been riding Dinosaur ever since I was at least 11, but I never had my eyes open. Re: What ride have you conquered that you were afraid of?
Well when ToT first opened in 94 I was 10 years old and already afraid of elevators a bit since I watched the movie "Earthquake" and the ads back then made it look like you stood up in an actual elevator and it dropped with no restraints ( reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHPLNh3ZIAQ). So that one I didn't ride until I was like 14 or something, and that was probably the same year I decided Space Mountain would be okay. But aside from those I never avoided a ride past my early teens, at least not because of fear.

I know EXACTLY what you mean BenB!!! I'm not a real drop person either, I think you'd do ok on Splash though.the last hill is not bad,it's over with quickly!! I think that some of the hills in the middle of the ride are worse than that one!! I debated on whether or not to do it too after seeing that last drop but when it was over I was excited that I did it and actually would do it again!!BenB wrote:Yeah, Splash Mountain is one I still haven't done. Well, when I was younger, I was terrified of roller coasters and things like that, so I was terrified of Tower of Terror. Now, however, I love roller coasters and extreme rides (maybe because I don't live too far from Cedar Point!) so I've done Tower of Terror and, of course, Aerosmith.

so is Rock and roll coaster bad? I haven't gotten to ride that one yet.Not because I'm scared of it just hasn't worked out,I'm planning to ride it next trip(HOPEFULLY next year) I'm not a big fan of coasters, just don't like drops!! My hubby rode it while I took our daughter elsewhere and he said it's not bad that I'd probably like it,don't know if he was just saying that or not! What do you guys think? Is it scary? Should I go for it?
