Oh...
I would guess Disney has pretty good security on their computer networks!

Always treat public and foriegn networks like they are compromised and avoid doing anything that requires a login. If a guest, or even a worker, spoofs a hot spot, they could look fully legit but then glean info from your data.

amy, it does not matter if the security is good... it would be like hacking the NSA, or NASA... a juicy target. especially if you can prove it.. say, change the lighting on the castle, or insert your picture into the slideshow... shut down a ride... so having seperate networks, that offer no vector into the core systems would be best, because if you have a way in, most of the time you can find a way past the security....

Hmmm, considering there hasn't been any high profile hacking attack on a park. I wonder if the various systems are not networked with the outside world? Then again, there may have been breaches but unless they knew what they were doing they couldn't control anything.

I would have to say the computer systems that control the park operations would definitely be separate from the networks that would allow park goers to use wifi...

I know when I was there several years ago, they only had wired internet in the stay rooms. This is pretty cool they have rolled this out! About time! :hm_ghost:

This is good news for our next trip in December. We'll be able to access our thermostat remotely and turn up the heat in our house before departing WDW. The house will be nice and warm when we return to Kansas! Yipee!

Considering how much email would be waiting for me when I get home after a 8 or 9 day trip (including travel time there and back) wifi would be GREAT.

We were in the Wilderness cabins In February and there was NOT free WiFi there at the time, though I know they were rolling that out to SOME resorts when we were there.

Looks like we JUST missed it as we were there in early/mid Feb. Oh well. at least it will be there next Feb. :)

Very nice to have complimentary wifi now in all the resort rooms. It allows me to access subsonic from my iPad :D

Not really, there is an odd inverse relationship between hotel prices/stars and wifi (at least with chain/corporate owned ones).

And as long as people were shelling out the money to connect to the wifi....why give it away for free? I do wonder how much of a drop they had seen in the past year or so when most people have wifi on their phones, computers, personal hot-spots, etc. It is of course a perk to play up too, (now that they have it)..."We offer free wifi!"

It might also be that since a 3rd party usually take care of the wifi, they may be paying the same rate for the upkeep but not seeing the same returns.
