len, if you have ridden Dumbo in its old location, could you not say you HAVE ridden it before, albiet without the newer scenery?Len90 wrote:Ahh very interesting. It looks like I will miss the second half of Dumbo unless they start soft opening it in early June (i highly doubt it though). I will say that there is a lot of reason to start planning a trip for 2013 and then another one for 2014. I just can't believe the Mine train is really going to be that long. I know it was decided on later, but they really weren't starting that much later on it.mills10 wrote:They have announced some dates for some of the new attractions!

Re: Fantasyland Expansion
Do you suppose they are sort of drawing the openings out so people will be enticed to visit in 2012, 2013 and 2014?dstrawn9889 wrote:len, if you have ridden Dumbo in its old location, could you not say you HAVE ridden it before, albiet without the newer scenery?Len90 wrote:Ahh very interesting. Re: Fantasyland Expansion
Is there another big construction project coming up after this? I was thinking of going again after they get the mine train open in 2014 but I like to go between big projects.
Re: Fantasyland Expansion
Are you referring to just MK or WDW in general? If just MK, not much (Tomorrowland is rumored but no confirmation). If WDW, there is still the Avatar project for Animal Kingdom.Wizzard419 wrote:Is there another big construction project coming up after this? Re: Fantasyland Expansion
In general, if I recall, Avatar hasn't broken ground yet and won't be ready until several years after that.
Re: Fantasyland Expansion
As far as we know, it is still happening. Heck, Fantasyland's expansion was rumored for almost a year leading up to the confirmation with blueprints being leaked (albeit some of that has been scrapped) but with Avatar, it's the other way around: Confirmation without rumors or anything leaked before hand. Let's wait and see what happens before we call it dead.Wizzard419 wrote:In general, if I recall, Avatar hasn't broken ground yet and won't be ready until several years after that.

Oh, I wasn't calling it dead, I just meant they hadn't started construction. Right now is the design phase/checking if they can do what they want to design, then it usually goes to the farmed out imagineers to flesh out the ideas further, then contractors to design the final product and build it.

UPDATE: The second Dumbo spinner has arms (and it looks like its a duplicate of the currently open spinner. Also, the 7DMT is taller than I thought it would be.

It sure makes us want to go back next year and in 2014 for Mine Train! We did the Great Goofini ride this time! Dumbo was gorgeous!

Re: Fantasyland Expansion
We just rode Dumbo on April 28 and we could see the second Dumbo from the air of the one that is operational. Looks just like those pics! Also got good views of the 7DMT construction site. So disappointed that it wasn't open when we were there, but that's why we keep going back, right?MadEye wrote:UPDATE: The second Dumbo spinner has arms (and it looks like its a duplicate of the currently open spinner. Re: Fantasyland Expansion
Update: Snow White's Scary Adventure closed forever last night. Going out to the park for my traditional birthday Dole-Whip and I'll get some shots of what Fantasyland looks like with it now closed. Hopefully the wall doesn't come out that far into the walkway.

I made sure to ride last night. I would have felt bad otherwise and regretted it if I hadn't.

Let us know what it looks like. I'm sad to see Snow White go. That is one attraction I remember from when I was little...MadEye wrote:Update: Snow White's Scary Adventure closed forever last night. Re: Fantasyland Expansion
Alas, was unable to get any pictures of the wall as it was a very rainy day. Won't be going to the parks for a while as my pass doesn't let me in on weekends and I'll be out of town as the block out dates kick in when I'll be gone.
