Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
At WDW, we have so few "Walt Disney's" attractions that this is one of our few links to the man himself. I know that it rarely fills and that Disney is a company and needs to stay relevant, but this is one of those experiences that helps us to remember why/how we got WDW in the first place. Refresh, don't replace!
Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
I think my mom would cease her WDW trips if this ride ever closed... she visits MK for this, TTA, and Haunted Mansion. So take out one of the three and she's done for.

COP is one of those older attractions that keeps the memories of Disney alive for us old bucks. I would hate to see it replaced.

Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
Well, at least it's not an actual show piece (like an audio animatronic figure) that is not working or is in bad shaoe and just parts of the interior that are in bad shape. if it were an actual show piece that was not working or was in bad shape, the audience, depending on what it is, would notice; for example, lets say that the curtains in the first theater (where the audience is told about some of the history of the Carousel of Progress), which create swags when they open, only opened to reveal the bottom half of the logo in the theater causing the audience to only see the word "progress" (and possibly some of the word "of") leaving the top half covered so the audience wouldn't see the words "Walt Disneys Carousel of". In short, the audience doesn't notice any interrior piece like a wall that is in bad shape that easy, so if a show piece was in bad shape or was not working the audience woukld be more likely to see it.

In my opinion, there are some attractions: COP, CBJ, ETR that need to be placed in a Disney Museum and new attractions put in their place. They look really old and out of place and are honestly.... boring. They do retain good memories but are sadly outdated in my opinion.

I think that there is too much tearing down and getting rid of great classic rides like carousel of progress!! I understand walt wanted things to change and grow but what are they going to get rid of next...Haunted Mansion. People who think they want these rides gone need to remember that your favorite ride might be next!! Be careful what you wish for!!

Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
I wouldn't worry too much about HM since that ride has a line of people waiting. As I have said before, they didn't close horizons because it was too popular.
Speaking of the curtains in CoP, are they supposed to open in the first scene? Whenever I've seen it they have always been open with the logo/medallion there.

Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
HM is safe because it has advanced with time. Constant upgrades has made it great and that's why there is always a line to get in. The others I mentioned have made little if any upgrade. Although ETR came up with the under new management theme a couple of years ago but dropped it when last year and went back to the 1955? version.
Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
I disagree, I think it's great some of the classics are still around. Sometimes they need a little love, but it's great that there's a mix of classic attractions and newer ones. Sometimes change is good, but sometimes it goes wrong. ETR is a good example of that. Now that it's back to its original version, it's much more popular.rphillips14 wrote:In my opinion, there are some attractions: COP, CBJ, ETR that need to be placed in a Disney Museum and new attractions put in their place. Re: Carousel of Progress in need of TLC!
But, arguably, the reason that rides like HM got upgrades wasn't to keep them popular but rather as a reward for being popular. If they upgraded CoP I have a feeling it would be a quick surge followed by a rapid return back to the old low numbers.
