Soarin' closed indefinitely

Post by MadEye » May Thu 03, 2012 11:41 pm

Both Soarin' Over California at DCA and Soarin' at Epcot are closed indefinitely. No word on exactly why, but word going around is that some idiot guest messed with a seat belt and exposed a problem that they never noticed before.

Just wanted to give a heads up.
We are all a little weird
And life's a little weird,
And when we find someone whose
Weirdness is compatible with ours,
We join up with them and fall in
Mutual weirdness and call it Love.”
― Dr. Seuss

 What? Really? Was there an injury?? Was it at DL or WDW???
I hope they come up with a fix soon!!!
EDIT: Well I did a little investigation (aka Google searching) and it looks like a couple guests at the EPCOT Soarin' unfastened their seat belts and got out of their seats before the show started. They were standing on the side of the theater and a CM noticed them there, which led to the attraction being shut down.
The odd thing it that there is very little chatter on the various Disney boards about the incident.

NOOOOOO!!!!!! Not my namesake ride!!!

The office heard my cries of dismay and now we're all in an uproar. But note I'm coming up empty-handed on a source. Links please? Even the Hub has no word and we post advisories on closed attractions pretty much immediately.

Well I hope they get this resolved immediately. As one poster on another link Amy posted put it, having both Test Track AND Soarin' closed will really impact Epcot Futureworld. Then again, if it keeps crowds low... :) Nah. :)

Typical, a couple people ruin things for everyone. :x But I'm sure they will have it up and running soon, I just feel badly for anyone that misses that wonderful ride on their trip this weekend.

Amen sister! It's amazing the idiotic things people do when they are on vacation (or sometimes it's even locals  ).
I feel badly for those who won't be able to experience such fantastic attraction both in (DCA and EPCOT) because of stupid actions by a couple of people.

Thanks for the links, Amy. I wasn't doubting the story but nothing showed up on Google so I was just wondering.

Ok. According to WDW News Today's twitter feed, Soarin has reopened. I don't know if this means for both DCA and EPCOT or what...but I thought I'd share it with you.

I wonder if this means a long-term refurb is coming... Epcot can't afford that with Test Track down through at least Thanksgiving.

Rather like the asinine lap bars at Splash. Shame the guests do such ridiculous and literally brainless things that it's necessary to fix things that likely weren't even broken to start with.

and probably wired in a tattle-tale so if a belt is unhooked, the ride stops and goes into 'safe mode'... like in star tours
