A little background: these were sold during the 100 Years of Magic celebration in 2001. They lit up/flashed as they interacted with a ride, show, or parade.

Does anyone have any idea whether these still work in the Parks?

Good point. I know they worked in 2006 because I took it then. Now, just gotta buy those expensive button batteries for it since it isn't working

That's a neat pin! How fun that they interacted with the attractions and parades

You'll definitely have to let us know if they still work. I might have to scare one up on ebay if it does!

i doubt that they work for anything other than MSEP in parades, since they are not running the old parades circa 2001 anymore

It's all a question of if they turned off/removed the RF broadcasters I guess. It sounds like as of 2010/11 they were still working in a few rides though.

Asking price and real value are two very different things.

Yeah, I wonder if people really threw them out though? Disney is kind of famous for making collectables for the sake of being collectable, meaning that they generally do not gain value since no one tosses the things out. They are good if you are looking for a hobby, but if you see them as an investment you will not be pleased.
