You're very welcome...I always have a little something up my sleeve. ;)

Loving the pictures so far!!!! :D
Thanks! It was great to meet the two of you :)

Both times I have eaten here with the same results--slow/poor service, but decent food. :(

You got me a bit emotional thinking about my first WDW Half...and how amazing it was getting to Mile 10...knowing all that was left was a 5k...and that dreaded up-hill on-ramp. Getting to Mile 12 gives you a huge rush and thinking about the gospel choir at Mile 13 is giving me chills as I type this.

Sorry for hijacking...looking forward to the rest of your TR!
First of all, feel free to hijack all you want :) Second, I could not agree more---I got emotional reliving this--it was awesome :) :)

Day 4
The Plan: Epcot all day! ADRs: Biergarten at 1:15 and Rose and Crown at 7:50 for Illuminations.
Actual:
To elaborate on my plan—we wanted to go all morning until we ate (or the BTGs drove us out of there (they were bad that week)) and then hit POR for a siesta, then go back in the evening for a stroll, a beer and R&C and Illuminations. We hit all the high spots in FW…no, sorry Ellen’s is not a high spot—it’s not unbearable, but we don’t lose sleep if we don’t go there (get it?). We collected a FP to Soarin` for later on that we thought could use on the way out to siesta.

I don’t care for Stitch to be honest, but the whole family was into it:
Image

Let me digress with some background info: My wife recently started working at the same company as me. It’s a decent sized company so I hardly ever see her---we’re even in different buildings. Anyway, her cube-mate is a great guy that I have known since I have worked here. He has Muscular Dystrophy but continues to work even though he has gone downhill in recent years. They told him about 3 years ago that he needed to be in a wheelchair, but refuses. He and my wife really bonded—he taught her a lot in her first few months .
Well, after Captain EO (yes I enjoy it, don’t judge me! ;) ) we decided to use our FP for Soarin`and then go into WS for some cold beers—mixing things up a little. We headed down the stairs and my wife stopped to use the rest room—that one “halfway down” off to the side—you know which one I mean. So I sat there and waited and then I got an awful text: her cube-mate had passed away. :(
It was a surprise, but it wasn’t, does that make sense? I had to think quick—should I tell her or not? Should I wait? I decided to tell her right then and she cried and we hugged—we were sorta in shock. We sat there about 15 mins—she called her boss and tried to find out more. His lungs just gave out—it was inevitable really. He lived way past his expiration date, as he liked to say. I was wondering if this would ruin her trip or what she would do…
She announced: Lets ride Soarin` then go have some beers in his honor! Amen to that! The first beer was in Canada—we milled around, drank and reminisced about our fallen co-worker. Then we watched the Canada film. We were quiet, down but not out. Somber I guess is the term.

My son and some cat---a Lady in a store in France told us who she was, but I don’t even remember:
Image

We drank our way around to Germany and then ate there. Last time at the Bier Garten (August of 2009) we were seated with an awesome family from CA, but no such luck this time…When he explained that we would be sitting together, the other family (from Mass.) immediately complained, but he wouldn’t hear it—he just sat us and walked away as they grumbled and fussed. In fact they were arguing/complaining about the seating so long that I already had my first plate of food before they realized they weren’t going to ‘win.’ If they wanted to eat, they were eating with us. Too funny—I guess nobody warned them. They would even look at our end of the table.
We had a lovely blonde German gal who’s name escapes me (I am awful with names) but I can picture her face—and she was very tall! She talked us both into the “German-Sized” beers and we rolled out of the Biergarten way before the other people—much to their delight I am certain. Some people…

“German-Sized?”
Image

Full of food and with heavy hearts, we headed back to the POR to relax and avoid the ever-growing Brazilian population at our favorite park. We did a little shopping at the Fulton General Store—I wanted some more Mickey kitchen utensils—jackpot! And my wife wanted some small gifts for her co-workers—check that box!
After an uneventful break at the resort, we headed back to Epcot for our favorite activity: walking around, drinking beer and enjoy all that is Epcot. I texted Mousekedude and he replied that he was in Epcot also—they were going to have a margarita at la Cava and then hang out with the Boilers. So my Wife took Son #2 to Norway for the boat-ride and I went into the depths of Mexico to share a drink with the Mousekecouple. We chatted and they told me that bought a DVC Membership so they were going to be having many more jalapeno maragaritas with the Mouse :D Congrats!!!

Delicious jalapeno margaritas all around with great people!
Image

I had to leave to catch up to my family (I couldn’t let her get too many beers ahead) so we crashed the Boilers dinner at San Angel just to say ‘hi’ (thanks to the Double-Boilers for being so gracious-but I just had to meet a fellow half-marathoner and SSR`er) and I was on my way!
Let’s recap: I had a jalapeno margarita in Mexico, a beer in Norway, a beer in Germany, a Grey Goose slushy in France (never had it—just HAD to get one) and now off to R&C for dinner—lol. Yes I was FULL!
So I ordered a beer while we waited (!) and around 8:00 we got seated with an inside view of the show. I didn’t care because we always go out to their little patio area to watch anyway. Honestly—I have no clue what I ordered, not even after looking back at the menu---lol. Wow, huh? Now I know you are thinking it was because it was all the drinks I had, but you’d be wrong. It was because we were seated two tables away from a demon child from ‘you know where’. This child was pure evil. She was running around the seat that is sort of built into the wall—she was screaming—she started to punch her sister. I couldn’t stop staring at the parents who just sat there and ate while the girl (maybe about 6 or 7) created chaos in the Rose and Crown. Oh, it was a sight! Finally they finished and mom and kids left---Dad ordered a beer and sat there calmly cashing out his check and drinking that last beer. I was worried that the girl was out on the patio waiting for Illuminations but after we went out there she was nowhere to be found…in fact we were the only ones there.
Dessert is included in the DDP so we ordered them and with the help of our terrific server (a very young gal that was just bubbly-she seemed to love her job), we enjoyed the show with “to-go” cups of beer, then went back in and concluded our awesome evening with sticky toffee pudding. Then like everyone else, we shuffled out of Epcot and waited for the bus back to POR. Long day, but fun… and meeting up with the Mousekecouple was a nice surprise.
We decided that we would sleep in a little bit tomorrow and then hit MK.

My condolences on the loss of your co-worker. It sounds like he managed to live every bit of his life to the fullest which always seems to make their passing a bit more bearable. It was nice that you were able to hoist one in his honor ~ and in EPCOT no less!
Ick ~ your family likes Stitch? Nice of you to take a picture with him for them. I've never seen the movie but I just don't care much for his attraction at WDW
In case you really want to know ~ the cat with your son is named Marie, from the Aristocats.
Sounds like you had terrible luck on day 4 with dining companions  It's probably a good thing that your drink count was where it was as it probably made the chaos at dinner seem a bit more tolerable...
I like the German size beer. Once F1gment gets her computer fixed (as it is completely unfunctionable at the moment, and has my pictures held hostage) I should post one I have of me at Oktoberfest ~ also with a "German-sized" beer!
Yay for getting to have a jalapeno margarita with the Mouskecouple. I hope to do that someday too! And I'm sure the doubleboilers didn't mind you crashing to say hello.
Looking forward to more :D

Wow, H! You didn't mention that your coworker had passed! I guess now I understand why you seemed a little distracted when we were having our J.M's. :(
But it was a wonderful evening, and we're honored to have been able to share part of it with you. Oh, and Amy is correct: the Boilers did not mind our bringing you to their table and "crashing" their dinner. They were thrilled to meet you too. :D
Keep the great report coming!

Nice continuation of the report H! I'm very sorry for the loss of your co-worker...several years ago there was a co-worker of mine who battled Lou Gherig's disease...I know it's sad that he is gone, but at least he is not suffering anymore.

How was the Grey Goose slushie? I've heard about those and I'm hoping to try one someday...we just didn't have the time to do everything we wanted to this time around.

Is it me or does Marie look a bit on the evil side?

Glad you got to meet up with the Mouse couple and the Boilers (even if it was a quick crashing... ;) ). JM's are on the list for our next trip to WS as well (whenever that may be)...they sound fabulous! :D

I have one more day to report on from our trip...I'm trying to work on the final batch of pictures

one thing...

if you plan on drinking a JM while walking around WS...make sure it is not 90+ degrees outside...because if it is you better drink it down fast!

DW got one on our last trip (well...she had one inside during our meal at San Angel Inn...and then got one for the road) and tried to sip on it as we walked around WS...and it did not hold up well in that Florida heat and humidity. It still did its job...but just know that it is best enjoyed in moderate temperatures and humidity. I think it has more to do with the jalapenos and cucumbers than anything else.

Thanks--he did just that--once he was diagnosed, he started a bucket list and got most of it done!
I dont know if they like Stitch as much as they were enjoying getting their picture made with him (her?). Stitch was all alone--lol--so we went and saw him.
I would LOVE to see that pic!!!
Oh and thanks for the name--I just couldnt remember it--too many beers? lol ;)

We tried to not let it set the mood for the whole trip--but he loved life and so do we--so we hoisted many in his honor :)
Like I said--it was great to meet you Guys! Like the gal sings at ToT: "We'll meet again..."

Yes--he is in a better place--I truly believe that :)
The slushie was great!!! I was torn between the Grey Goose and the Grand Marnier :D
Arent all cats evil? Lol---j/k j/k
My mouth is watering at the thought of those JM's---Make sure they are MUST DO (even though they aren't on Stacy's countdown ;))

Day 5
The Plan: MK all day with ADR at the Grand Floridian Café at 6:15

Actual:
We tried to sleep in, but we never do. We would rather get there at rope drop and take a break mid-day. So that’s exactly what we did.
While we were waiting for the bus, this bigger guy, (a CM), came over the North Depot where we were and starting chatting us up. He had a dustpan and broom, so I assumed that he was either: a) screwing off on the job or b) just the happiest trash picker-upper ever. He was neither…he was one of the CMs you see painting pictures of characters with water and using concrete as his canvas. He drew a Minnie and a Donald. He was a real friendly fella—he would draw a little and get the kids to guess what it was going to be. He would trick them because he’d start by drawing it upside-down, then after a few guesses, he would spin around. It was pretty cool. After a long wait our bus came---the busses really were not in our favor this trip.
Image

We got over to MK and hit SM and most of the attractions in Tomorrowland to start the day. I even talked my wife into CoP—she hates this one (yeah she’s weird but I love her) but you never know if it will be here when you come back, so I see it every time. She beat me at Buzz, which I blame on having to be the one who moves the ship side-to-side, and then we went around to Fantasyland which was a ghost town. We hit Pooh, Pan and Snow White before we decided to eat at Cosmic Rays.
I eat at Ray’s, not because the food is all that outstanding, but if you get here early enough you can have the place all to yourself and they have a pretty stellar fixins bar.
Then we had one of those moments when we decided to shift gears and go back to the hotel. We went back to the “quiet” pool and lay around basically doing nothing. It was very relaxing. I even walked all the way over to the Muddy Rivers pool bar at the “loud” pool ;) and got me a fancy, umbrella drink---oooh it was so good. And the grumpiest barkeep in America wasn’t working—yayyy!

While we were kicking around what to do next, my son announced that he wanted to do all four parks in one day. Tomorrow was supposed to be an off day where we could do whatever we wanted, including ‘nothing.’ He proclaimed that he was willing and able handle the task—he is 13—I was worried, but not panicked. I told him that being on the DDP might create some complications for his sit-down meal, so he would have to have a plan (even a loose plan) and make a ressie somewhere. After talking about his plan, I booked him an ADR at the Liberty Tree Tavern—nice and easy—no crazy menu to order from, just sit down and eat! He was determined, so we told him in order to prove he did it, he had to text us a picture from every park along the way. This was actually my way of knowing where he was at various times throughout the day—really for me more than him. He agreed to all demands and we allowed him to do it. More on that tomorrow…
After that bombshell, we decided that we would…yes you guessed it—go to Epcot for the evening, drink beer and watch Illuminations. My son, on the eve of his huge undertaking decided that he would spend the night at the hotel and rest up—we concurred and off to Epcot we went. We did like we always do and enjoyed each other’s company while sipping on beer and taking in the glory of Epcot. I was in heaven!

The obligatory goofy-faced SSE pic:
Image

Me and Hello Kitty! I wanted the larger one behind me, but it was wired to the shelf:
Image

We cancelled our ADR at GF and walked into Nine Dragons and had the run of the place. I texted Nacler that we were there and he agreed with me---good food, quick service=happy Henry (and NaCler). Is it “authentic” Chinese food? I don’t know or care—it was delicious and served promptly.

Now if you remember, we were originally supposed to stay with my brother and his family…well after we “moved out” he decided to invite his mother-in-law and his best friend and their family. They got so tied up with them we hardly saw him, so we called him and told him to meet us that night at Epcot and watch the fireworks. They were tied up but we made plans to meet the next day (our open day) at DAK.
After working that out it was just about time for my favorite fireworks at WDW. We watched it from the area between Off-Kilter and England—we had a good view, but the wind was blowing our way and it was killing me! So we moved more towards England, kind of behind the little patio area there. It worked out perfect because I was able to run over and get a Harp :D

Before the fireworks , we milled around the shops in England and saw one of the most disturbing thing I have ever witnessed at WDW…Yes, even worse than the “Skittle incident” from last year. We were in the Tea Shop and a supervisor was scolding a young gal while cleaning out her register. She was acting like she was really angry and the younger gal (who was dressed up in her English outfit) was just nodding her head. She didn’t really seem upset or anything. I tried to eavesdrop and all I could pick up was the Supervisor saying, “…so this way I won’t feel so bad. I will still feel bad about it, but just a little. You understand?” The young girl just nodded her head. The Supervisor took the cash drawer and the young girl followed her through a door at the back of the pavilion. It gave me a weird feeling like the girl was going to get fired. Who knows---I guess it upset me so much because you just never see that type of stuff while at WDW.

Other than that incident, it was another successful day at WDW in the books and we headed back to POR to enjoy an evening in our freshly-painted room.

The lobby still had the Christmas tree up--yay!!
Image

Tomorrow: Will my 13 y/o son actually pull off the 4 parks in one day? Would we actually have a good time at DAK? ;)

Nine Dragons is a favourite of mine. My dad and I tried it on a whim last year and we loved it. Been there three times and all three times have loved the service and loved the food.

I'm so sorry about the loss of your coworker, H. That's so sad. :(

I've never seen a CM drawing characters at the All Stars. I wonder if they only do that at the fancier resorts? That's pretty neat that they had someone there doing it ~ and providing some entertainment at the same time with having to guess what he was drawing! How fun that he was tricky and starting upside down :D
Can't believe you had Fantasyland all to yourselves in the morning. Everyone must have descended and left before you got there
You do enjoy your drinks don't you?! I had to laugh when you enjoyed moving during Illuminations because it put you closer to a beer  I can see the SAT question now... H = beer as NaCler = margaritas as Mouskedude = Jalapeno margaritas ;)
Oh my, I'm really looking forward to seeing how your son fared in his 4 park quest. My parents never would have let me do that, especially at age 13!! Heck, F1gment still worries about me when I go back to a park alone now  You two are great for being so willing to let him try that! Hope it worked out ok...
More, more, more :D

Thank you so much for posting such awesome details of your trip, H! I'm thankful for your contributions to our M.M. meet-up thread! Looking forward to the rest of your report!

On another note:
Attention! Special announcement!
You all may recall that I posted a notice some time back about having a few of these bad boys left over from the meet-up, which I would be willing to give away on a first-come-first-served basis:
Image

Well, the response has been great, and many of our fellow M.M's who couldn't actually make it to the meet-up have contacted me, and have subsequently been sent some of them. :D
This notice is to inform everyone that I have two of these left. So anyone who wants them is welcome to have them, including anyone who may already have some and would like more in order to have a larger collection.
So if you're interested, just p.m. me, and they're yours. :D

Hey, everybody. Just popped in real quick to say that this thread is not over yet. I still have some mayhem to post on the rest of our trip, if I can ever get around to uploading the rest of the pics to photobucket.

On that subject, I also have an update for those of you who gave us your Photopass numbers so we could combine it all on one CD. We actually ordered it way back in February, and Disney claimed they sent it, but we never got it. Mouseoholic has been working on the problem to try and figure out what happened, and the best she can figure after talking with them is that something got messed up when she was setting up the optional Photo Book for us online. So they agreed to restore everything, and she's going to re-order it all. As soon as it gets here we'll get copies made for y'all.
My apologies for those who have been patiently waiting and beginning to suspect that we just forgot... We didn't forget. I've just been really bad about not keeping everyone updated.

Thanks for the update Mousekedude. I know you guys have been under a ton of stress lately and I didn't want to bug you about it. I'm holding off on the last day of our report because there's pictures on there I wish to incorporate. :D
