I'm not super fond of this idea. It's not a refurb that needs to happen, and I don't like when Disney changes. I love Test Track

I often wonder if everything in the sets is superglued down. I remember seeing, in one of the testing offices, a half drained snowglobe (due to slow leaking)

I always wonder how much it costs to update pre-show and on ride video/what is involved with it? It seems odd that they allow them to get so dated.

I agree! They don't even produce the majority of the cars that in the pre show now. We laugh every time we see it!Wizzard419 wrote:I always wonder how much it costs to update pre-show and on ride video/what is involved with it? It seems odd that they allow them to get so dated.

To be fair, it is a little dated, but I don't want them changing it around ridiculously! It just needs a little refresher. They do more and it won't be my Test Track anymore...

You wouldn't think it would cost very much ~ they do have the studios and all...Wizzard419 wrote:I always wonder how much it costs to update pre-show and on ride video/what is involved with it? It seems odd that they allow them to get so dated.
I wouldn't think it is all anchored down, but it could be I suppose. It's not like in the queues where they have to worry about people taking things for souvenirs...Wizzard419 wrote:I often wonder if everything in the sets is superglued down. Well DHS is kind of like falsies, there for show but no functionality under it. But even a shot for shot re-shoot would at least mean no having to create a new storyline and all.
My guess is, if it is glued down, it's just easier for cleaning. That way they can run a duster over it without knocking stuff over.

No, I didn't mean DHS, I meant their actual studios...out in Cali.Wizzard419 wrote:Well DHS is kind of like falsies, there for show but no functionality under it. But even a shot for shot re-shoot would at least mean no having to create a new storyline and all.

I'm not so sure they clean. I've seen some places that have lots of dust

Clean is a realitive term I guess, just keep the birds from nesting in there
I always wonder, what exactly do the workers do in the control room that is in the Mission: Space line? Are they watching security cameras, updating facebook, looking for vids of people puking in the ride to upload to youtube?

I think I read somewhere that they are actually monitoring the attraction from that area. Although that doesn't make a lot of sense, because I have been through the queue when no one is in that room, and that would mean no one is watching the attraction operations?!Wizzard419 wrote:Clean is a realitive term I guess, just keep the birds from nesting in there

They could mean different things by "monitoring". Who knows?Amy wrote:I think I read somewhere that they are actually monitoring the attraction from that area. Here is an article from awhile back. Interesting to read about the various design elements that went into the making of Mission Space.
There is a paragraph addressing the control room as well...

Here is the link to the whole article for those who are interested... http://livedesignonline.com/mag/show_bu ... off_epcot/An important element of all theme park rides is the operation tower where the ride operator keeps an eye on ride control and error messages that would stop the ride from operating. “This is the first time this room has been visible,” says Pryor, noting that the high-tech room fit into the overall theme of the attraction. “There is a lot of technology in one spot,” he adds. “The show control and A/V is integrated for one operator to run the ride.” This technology includes WDI proprietary video servers, a Peavey MediaMatrix with Cobranet, Crown amplifiers, Panasonic High Resolution Plasma Displays, Samsung LCD Displays, and loudspeakers by JBL, EAW, ACE, and WDI proprietary outdoor speakers. There is also a WDI Proprietary Intercom System and the Ride Tower has a custom-designed integrated intercom and PA/microphone system.

Trust me. Unless whoever is assigned to that position wants to lose their job, they are in there. I've seen idiots bang on the glass like it was a zoo exhibit because they want to get the CMs attention. Sometimes, they try and hide from the stupid people and it's worked.Amy wrote:I think I read somewhere that they are actually monitoring the attraction from that area.
