I agree about the movement of Dumbo. One of the iconic images of Fantasyland was the Dumbo ride in the middle of everything, and everyone watching it go around and around. Now it's shoved off to the side.

I don't see the speedway going electric. The cost would be ENORMOUS. On top of that, having sufficient battery power would mean 2/3 of the cars would have to be removed to be charging, so they could have a 3-way rotation, as recharging a battery of that magnitude takes several hours. Until the technology for battery-powered vehicles improves I wouldn't count on the cars changing fuel sources. Now, if they could use a higher ethanol blend, that would improve the emissions greatly, but those engines are so old I doubt they could be converted at all.

Really excited about almost everything. Especially that they ditched the elaborate Cindy/Aurora M&Gs and are giving us a new SWatSD ride instead. Glad the fairies got the boot too, to be honest.

My lone complaint in this whole venture is the Dumbo move. Seems like a major downgrade in the view, and I do have to wonder just how much stink from the Speedway will float on over. I have major sinus issues, so I may have a problem on my hands now due to this move. :(
The thing I want done is to just rip the Speedway out and maybe do something else with that land (who wants to bring back Mr. Toad, anyone?). That ride is a waste and I wouldn't think environmentally-conscious Disney would want all those fumes being put out into the air. I know I think it is bad environmentally, and smelling it is even worse!

I don't know how the poor CMs work there all day. It seems like it would be hard to breathe those fumes all day :(

I don't want it gone because I think it's one of those rides that is really special to children. It's one of the few rides I remember going on in my first WDW trip. I was 9, and I was driving a car, and I was in WDW! I think that's something that sticks with a lot of people. Nowhere near as iconic as Dumbo obviously, but still basically a rite of passage for a lot of children.

That said, I wish they would do something about it to make it safer. I also don't think electric cars are the way to go, because it would make no financial sense, but some changes are needed. Even if someone doesn't know anything about environmental studies, I feel like it's easy to guess that breathing in something that smells that bad cannot be good for the lungs, our cells, etc. It's just gross. :( I have issues with the trams too, but not as badly; just have to hold my breath sometimes.

the trams are propane... clean-burning, well, enough that you can run them indoors... but burning propane is like turning on a gas stove in your house

I agree, elizabethswann. It looks like a huge expansion. Will the former Toontown Fair now be part of Fantasyland?

Yes, Dumbo will be in the new area now known as Storybook Circus (formerly MTTF). Only things that are sticking around are the tents (updated, of course) and the train station (which looks amazing!) and the Barnstormer (now known as Great Goofini).

Do you know what will be in the circus tents now? Still a meet and greet?

Yeah I would assume this would still be where you could see Mickey and Minnie, especially since their houses are gone.

Mickey is now permanently in Town Square. Word is that one will still be a shop and another will be M&Gs but no more Mickey and Minnie in that area and no word on which characters will be there. Still just a rumor for now.
