Matterhorn and Indiana Jones?

Post by rphillips14 » Jan Sun 29, 2012 11:53 am

Why isn't the Matterhorn and the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyworld? I'm sure there are other rides at other parks and not at Disneyworld. Does anyone know of others and why they are not at Disneyworld. The Indiana Jones ride would be perfect at HS and the Matterhorn would be perfect at AK or at the MK.

Just curious...

I think they want to keep some attractions that are unique at the different parks. If the parks all had the same shows and attractions then there would be no draw for people visiting the other parks.

The same mechanisim for Indy is at AK, Dinosaur is the exact same layout (though much more reasonable since they don't have to pay Lucas any money)

Matterhorn, possibly more of a "keep each park unique" but also, it is kind of an old ride, so they would want to do new thrills.

WDW doesn't get most of the good stuff from other resorts because there should be an incentive to visit a Disney Resort that doesn't have something WDW has (i.e. Rock n Rollercoaster is also at Paris but not at any of the other resorts and none of the other resorts have Journey to The Center of The Earth which is at Tokyo [but I would love to see it at WDW!!!]).

If WDW were to get an Indiana Jones ride, I'd want an original story, not a carbon copy of any of the IA rides at DL, TDL or DLP.

But that doesn't stop the rumor mill from rolling out rumors about a Matterhorn attraction at the new Sweden pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot...

Wait... sweden? Is there a war between the neutral nazi loves and herring stuffers that I missed?

They could actually tack it on to Italy (if they weren't right up against a waterway and road) since it is along the boarder and called Monte Cervino.

Tell that to the people who keep posting on other sites about the "new" rumors of Sweden coming to Epcot. Sweden is only one of a handful of rumored countries to either join or replace countries in World Showcase (Brazil being the most recent).

That was asking why, in the event there was, a Swedish pavillion would have an Italian/Swiss geographic feature in it.

Why would a Matterhorn be at a SWEDEN pavillion? Isn't the Matterhorn one of the Alps? I'm no geography scholar, but I think I know that much...

But the bigger question is why would there be a Sweden or Switzerland pavilion at WS? There's already Norway, very similar to Sweden, and there's already Germany, very similar to Switzerland, especially when you consider most of the Germany pavilion and music is from southern Germany.

I would personally like to see a Latin American pavilion (Peru? Chile? Brazil?) or South Africa, or Australia, before I'd want yet another European country landing there. Not much of a WORLD showcase when 1/2 the world is excluded.

or India

You would never want to say either of those statements to residents of their respective countries. Calling a Sweed a Nord or a Swiss a German is akin to saying they have intimate relations with livestock. :D

There probably will never be another pavillion in the WS for a few reasons. The main one may be that countries won't pony up the cash anymore since it isn't a smart investment to get tourisim. The other is that they are pretty built up there, if you look at the area from overhead they have a waterway and a major road right behind the WS area.

Hard isn't the real issue, the issue is getting a country to pony up the cash.

NO country has ever ponied up cash....well except morocco(and that was the royal family). all the pavillions are sponsored by a company or a private group.

'Of the eleven pavilions, Norway and Morocco were not present at the park's opening, and were added later. Each of these contains representative shops and restaurants and is staffed by citizens of these countries, as part of the Cultural Representative Program. Some also contain rides and shows. The only pavilion that is sponsored by the country it represents is Morocco. The remaining country pavilions are all sponsored by private companies.'
