Well, maybe the article was premature as the reports coming out today are that everything is now working in the final scene.

Yay for them fixing something small ~ now on to the riverboat fixin'!Soarin08 wrote:It was working when we rode it two weeks ago... one of the turtles squirted me.Amy wrote:I would venture to say that since the boat is still rocking, the casual guest won't notice the AAs aren't moving. It was sad to see the water effects where the turtles are weren't working this past December though. That is always a cute little scene with the water squirting just in front of your log!Soarin08 wrote:-shrug- I didn't notice much of an issue. Normally I'm still in the "holy crap on a cracker that was a long drop!" mode and barely pay attention to that scene. It's not like all the animatronics in the whole ride are down...

Okay, thanks for clearing that up guys. I was just wondering if older animatronics could be the issue, but it looks ilke its isolated so hopefully next time we ride it will be fine!mindflipper wrote:Don't believe any at WDW are recycled. The ride opened before Horizons & World of Motion over at EPCOT closed and their AA's went into the recycling pool.MmeLeota wrote:I know they are at DL, but I don't know about WDW.disneylizzy wrote:Are some of those animatronics older than the rest of the show? Like leftovers from America Sings or something?

That is good to know. That's actually my favorite scene in the entire ride. These days with Disney, I wouldn't have been surprised if they left it broken for a couple of years.NaCler wrote:Well, maybe the article was premature as the reports coming out today are that everything is now working in the final scene.

Re: Trouble at the MK???
To be fair, the only reason they can't work on the broken yeti is that the design requires long term shutdown of the ride (since the ride was built around it) as opposed to other rides where the AA is simply carted in and out.
Re: Trouble at the MK???
I don't know why everyone freaks over the yeti never working properly. You're still going so fast at that point on EE, how the heck do you guys even notice?
I think people are too picky and too demanding with Disney. Once you work there, you'll sure see that. The parks aren't perfect but I feel like everyone expects them to be.

Re: Trouble at the MK???
Soarin, I do think that Disney should be perfect. That is what makes Disney so much better than all the other theme parks. Their attention to detail is something that has been prevalent through the years, so why shouldn't they be expected to continue the tradition instead of skating by at bare minimum. If there is a major AA that is broken, like the Yeti, it should be repaired, no matter how long the ride needs to be down for repair. The yeti is the main focus of the queue area and the ride, it should work as developed. There is a huge difference in a lungeing Yeti and a strobe light and fans. Walt would have shut it down years ago, that's the problem.
Re: Trouble at the MK???
Well considering that it is a theme park run by humans... perfection will never be achieved. I think it just bothers me as a CM when people nitpick over everything, because I really doubt the average guest even considers the work and effort that goes into those parks being a cut above all others. There might be 62000 of us CMs but we can only do so much.

I'm thinking no... there were a lot of failures before and after Walt's death. The ride itself still can deliver it's thrills, but due to the design flaws (from what it sounds like, the mechanics are fine but the physical design damaged the support for it) they would need to close the ride for an extensive period of time and it would probably do more harm than good, for the guests, to shut down a newer ride for a cosmetic reason.

I'm not bashing any CM's that help run the parks. I'm referring to the suits who make the operating and monetary decisions. I think the CM's who work the parks do an amazing job to enhance everyone's overall experience.

Re: Trouble at the MK???
Wiz... It's not a cosmetic reason. The major draw to the attraction doesn't work at all. The point of the ride isn't to ride a escape mine train through a mountain, it's to find and escape the clutches of the yeti.
I disagree with you on Walt. If his Carousel of Progress had a scene where John, the main character, didn't move. Walt would have shut the whole thing down to repair it instead of just going on as if nothing is wrong.

I also agree that having everything in working order when the ride is open is not too much to ask. Dinosaur is my fav ride, but it makes me sad that I've never seen it in full working order (and probably never will!)Soarin08 wrote:Well considering that it is a theme park run by humans... perfection will never be achieved. Please don't be offended -truly it is not a stab at CM's but more at high level executives that make the decisions of which fixes are prioritized and which aren't. I don't think anyone here believes that broken or not-fully-operating rides are due to CM's!
