He was landing at 1130 and wheels up at 230. With travel to and fro, Leaves about an hour and half at the park.

Re: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
Two immediate, slightly humorous thoughts:
1. If he went to WDW and didn't take those beautiful daughters of his, SHAME ON MR. OBAMA.
Bet they don't let him live THAT one down for awhile.
2. This just confirms my decision to never run for public office, ever. EVER. Anonymity has its benefits.

funny, land AF1 (where, surely not orlando...) and take VMH1 to the WDW airstrip... or even land in the parking lot out behind IASW and travel to the hub via the utilidors? wouldnt that be faster(and safer) than motorcade to and fro?

Re: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
Personally, I could care less. All I'm tired of is seeing my friends on Facebook either complaining or being excited. I'm like, get over it, it was Disney's decision, none of you are even down there at the moment!
I'm like, the conservatives would be making fun of the liberals if that side were mad over a Repub president coming, and yet all they are doing is complaining, I mean, COME ON. Grow up, certain friends of mine on Facebook (no one I'm friends with on here, thank goodness you all have more sense than that).
But whatevs. We'll be watching on our lunch break on Disney's cable channel at work. We all think it is cool, regardless of our preferences or like/dislike for the president. I mean, I thought getting to serve Blagojevich breakfast at Saratoga was cool even though I think he is a sleazeball.
So yeah.
Guests will have access to the parks in limited ways, it's us CMs who are being blocked.

It's not unusual for companies to only let the essential staff on, after clearance, because we are talking about national security level stuff.
Re: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
Nope. It's one of our ID block-out days. Fine with me. I'll be too tired to do any park visiting after I get off at 4pm.Amy wrote:So CMs who aren't working for the day can't go to the park either?Soarin08 wrote:...Guests will have access to the parks in limited ways, it's us CMs who are being blocked.
Even rides that are in the vicinity or have a clear view of where the speech will be are closed, ie. Astro Orbitor and the TTA. Not lying, that's what we were told today.

I bet his daughters put up a fuss..."Come on Dad, why can't we goAmy wrote:I figured he was making a vacation out of it, bringing the family and all, but according to the press release, he is only going to be there about 3 hours. Seems like it would be better for customers if Disney compensated them somehow - like have Magic Kingdom be open for an extra hour or two the night before/after for those folks who have to rearrange their well laid plans today. I know they don't HAVE to do anything, but it would be a nice consolation for those folks whose plans have been disrupted by all of this.

Re: Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?
Just read on another disney forum that:
"I have a friend who is at MK right now. He reports that it's slower to get in thru the turnstiles, and everyone is being rerouted from the turnstiles, backstage to Tomorrowland.
The cool part is, they have lined backstage with colorfull flags, they have floats from Spectromagic alinged so that guests can take pictures with them, in Tomorrowland there is a party atmosphere, not only the dance party but there are street performers in stilts that I believe are from the now extinct AK original parade.
He says that everyone is calm, the hub is completely shut down but from the TTA he can see the Main Street and the Hub are decorated as if 4th of July.
The CM are super helpful and he hasn't encountered anyone complaining.
Plus people that have a one park ticket can park hop with it today at no additional cost."
So it looks like they are having some compensation for everyone - especially offering hopping to one-park-ticket people. Curious if this is being communicated well to the guests.

That is nice of Disney to offer park hopping to all guests today. That is a nice compensation for the disruption of the day.
