The Beverly Challenge!!!!
First of all, your’s truly had to prove that I love the stuff. So in front of numerous eyewitnesses, I downed three cups. I was actually disappointed that they didn’t sell bottles of it I could take with me:

Mouseoholic wanted to hurl, but the muscles in her face locked up:

Yodiwan attacked it bravely, but it took him a minute or two to stop shuddering afterwards:

Mindflipper thought he could handle it:

MmeLeota was a good sport. Notice Mindflipper in the background of the first photo, trying to get the taste out of his mouth with some stuff from China:

C-bog40’s reaction was priceless:

And finally, Soarin took the plunge:

By the way, we thought Soarin was so sweet and kind… and we really enjoyed all the time we spent with her. But the poor thing never thought she looked good in any of the pictures we took of her, and as hard as I tried, I couldn’t convince her otherwise. So here’s one from later on in the trip when we were all on Splash Mountain. I think not even she can deny that she looks good in this one. What do y’all think? As Bogey would say, “Here’s lookin’ at you, Kid.”

Yes, she does! In fact, we had quite a lengthy conversation about Seinfeld episodes at one point during the trip. How funny!Amy wrote:...I keep meaning to ask boilerbabe if she watches Seinfeld![]()

Ah yes! The Beverly challenge...mindflipper's reaction was exceptional!!!!
As disgusting as it is, it was certainly fun taking the plunge as a group.
(Thank goodness for the sodas from China/Mexico/Israel to help get rid of that bitterness)
Soarin', you're nuts! You have such a pretty smile and you are quite photogenic!!!

This wasn't everyone's first time trying that "beverage" was it?Mousekedude wrote:The Beverly Challenge!!!!

I cannot speak for everyone, but it wasn't our first time...we'd had it before when the World of Coke was in Vegas...didn't like it then, don't like it now...MadEye wrote:This wasn't everyone's first time trying that "beverage" was it?Mousekedude wrote:The Beverly Challenge!!!!

LOVE the Beverly faces!! They were all awesome ~ thanks for capturing them M-dude
Soarin' and boilerbabe look like they could be sisters in the Splash Mountain log! Definitely a nice photo of both of them. Can't see much of the rest of the log ~ stupid computer screen size and resolution
I'll have to look on the phone later to see who else is in the picture!
Aha ~ b-babe does watch Seinfeld. Does she see admit to any similarities in her Dole Whip dance and Elaine's wonderful dance moves?!

Re: Mayhem Marauders Meet-up Part Deux!
The thing that hit me when I first tasted is that I knew the taste, I just couldn't put a name to it! It was killing me because it was - quite literally - on the tip of my tongue! When Mousekedude suggested that bitter acid taste was grapefruit, it then clicked that he was right! If you ever have a bitter grapefruit - and then drink Beverly - it's the same taste! It wasn't a bad taste, but I'm not a fan of grapefruit. And yes, I did drink the Chinese watermelon soda and it was good, but I also like the one from Isreal too.
Now back to the trip report in progress:
Saturday Night Meet-up at Poly for Wishes
We were suppose to arrive between 7:30 PM and 8 PM and given I left the Yacht Club at 7 PM BUT using Disney transportation (stupid me) I got there a minute or two before 8 PM. Disney does not get high marks on the transportation system on this trip. But luckily, I wasn't the last to arrive. That goes to Madeye and his plus one. It was great to finally meet him after interacting with him for so long on the forum board. And I can believe he would have been a great gangster in the Great Movie Ride (which I thought about the next day, but let's not get ahead of myself just yet). And here's the group photo (without MadEye, which is either because he's camera shy or because he arrived after the photo was taken - I will leave it to your imagination to figure out which. Only MadEye knows which is the real reason):

In the photo we have (going from left to right): Chernabog40, MmeLeota, ccMouse, Soarin08, Mouseoholic, Mousekedude, wewantsdaredhead, yodiwan1, mindflipper, and NaCler. Yeh, I look a bit pale, but I was bone tired.
We got our Dole Whips and headed to a spot behind the Poly to watch Wishes. We got an "extra" by the fact the Electric Water Pageant was also out in the water going on (without its music) while the Wishes fireworks were going off as well.
Thanks, H, for the photo I just posted above.
And Soarin08: thanks again for the lift to the Boardwalk afterwards. You saved me from Disney transportation!

Re: Mayhem Marauders Meet-up Part Deux!
I've always thought the Beverly tasted a bit like the medicine I had to take for tonsillitis when I was a kid ~ that's why I don't much care for the flavor
Awww, that is a great photo of everyone
You do look a bit pale mindflipper, and has anyone ever told you that you look a bit like that fellow in the Nightmare Before Christmas movies? Passing resemblance anyhow...
The meets are getting bigger. Hopefully F1gment and I can add two more the next time

Missing from last year: F1gment, Amy, boilerdude, and boilerbabe. If we could have had them as well, the total would have been up to 19 people.Amy wrote:I've always thought the Beverly tasted a bit like the medicine I had to take for tonsillitis when I was a kid ~ that's why I don't much care for the flavor

Beverly hails from Italy and so far, it seems only Mousekedude truly enjoys the drink
You can try one of several different International sodas at Club Cool located by the Fountain of Nations in EPCOT

NaCler looks like he slipped a sip of Beverly before taking that group pic...

After all the excitement at lunch, one could see how you would be bone tired mindflipper...
The Beverly is a wonderfully sweet soda (not sure where it's from)...
Club Cool is in EPCOT...there are several sodas from around the world that people can sample. My personal faves are the sodas from China (watermelon), Mexico (apple) and Israel (lemon and honey).
