Yep, that's my same thought... although I think housekeeping needs to be more wary of my family than we are of them, my mom always seems to accidentally make off with a hotel room towel.

Hey, one person in the room barely using it, I managed. I only used the room to crash for like 6 hours before heading back to the parks.

On our honeymoon we left $50 at the end of the trip. But then I learned that it's not the same person cleaning the rooms each day, and felt kind of bad about it. On our recent trip we left $5 a day.

We've also had the maid tell us to keep the towel animals. In fact, when I broke one of the animals apart to use one of the towels, she got uspet!:)

We had to scavenge the towels once or twice too! Spills happen and those darned towel critters are absorbent!

I used to travel a good bit for work and the standard I went by was $1-$2 per person...per day.

So on our trips, DW and I usually leave $2 per day on longer stays, and maybe $4 per day on shorter stays.

To add to some of the "less-than-stellar" Mousekeeping stories.. During our last trip, we had a room with a great view of the Wilderness Lodge courtyard. There were many times we wanted to sit on our balcony and just relax, but couldn't because of how filthy it was. Almost everything was covered in bird droppings or spider webs. Even after three calls to the housekeeping number (on three different days), and one visit to the front desk, it was never taken care of.

I'm surprised about being allowed to take the towel animals. Wouldn't this be the equivalent of taking the regular towels?
That is too bad about the balcony! You would think that after requesting a cleaning that many times they would have taken care of it!!

Thats so funny, it could be on a t-shirt. :D

I leave $2 per person when I share a room or $3 when I'm alone. I do usually leave a note on Disney themed stationary, usually saying "have a magical day" or the like. I often wonder if they bother to read them, I have had a couple housekeepers write back at Disney resorts and it was a highlight of the trip.

That's really considerate to leave a note. I'm sure sometimes it feels like no one really thinks about what they do unless it's something negative. The note adds a human touch that probably really makes there day, I know it would mine. Kudos to a fellow Mainer

Uncommon, I suppose, but we don't tip. The last 4 years in a row we've stayed 9 nights at Wilderness Lodge. We tip bell services, but not Mousekeeping.

We call Mousekeeping after we first get to our room and let them know we won't be needing housekeeping services during our stay. Leave our DND sign on too in case there is a communication problem. One or two times, we spot a Mousekeeper in the hallway and ask for some tissues and coffee, but that's it. We bring our own towels, toilet paper, soap, etc. etc. and our own trash bags, which we empty ourselves.

Do this for several reasons really. We've never felt it was necessary to have the room cleaned because we keep it relatively neat ourselves, plus we bring so much of our own stuff anyway. Besides that, I have always had concerns about employees going through my stuff. Not at Disney, but one time when I was little, I remember my parents and I heading to our room wherever we were staying, and we passed an open room a housekeeper was cleaning. She was digging through the visitor's makeup case and opening things to (at least) look at them! :? That alone made me never want to use housekeeping services anywhere when I got older, unless it was an emergency!

When my whole fam go to disney we dont tip because we are all DVC members so we get charged for housekeeping and upkeep of resort vacation homes every month added to our disney dues along with our taxes. So I pay enough $$$ :pluto: :donald: :ccat:

We didn't get any towel animals our last trip and therefore our tipping stopped. We LOVE towel animals and even when we requested towel animals they left more TOWELS and not towel animals. We were disappointed to say the least.
