New (possible) Nighttime Ride Changes

Well one of the spots for Jack, being talked about, is across from the jail scene, in the area that is blank now. Another addition will be in the dark tunnel after the first drop and before the second, is that a projection on the wall will be added.

Going to have to go watch my Disneyland Tin DVD's again so I can see the ride through of the original Pirates.. I dont remember it to well since I'm so used to the WDW version. How long is the dark tunnel between drops?

Well one of the things I heard is they are changing the Wicked Wench into the Black Pearl. So there will still be a pirate ship, just a different one.

I think it sounds like a good idea. You know the whole Disney quote of "Disneyland will never be completed as long as their is imagination in the world" plus the fact Disney liked disneyland more than films because when a film is in the can you can't modify it anymore whereas at the park you can add and subtract anytime. I know I am will be renewing my pass as I move down in the next year because I will want to see the ride. I bet all of you are going to go see it- sounds good to me.

I still think it's pathetic and unimaginative that they are adding references about the flim into the ride. I want the ride to have new effects and be upgraded, just not in conjunction with the film.

Once again, it's a short term money move. They know something is popular and they jump all over it. That's not what makes POTC and HM timeless. It was the detail and originallity.

I still stand by my idea of a new POTC movie based attraction in MGM and California Adventure.. DONT TOUCH THE ORIGINAL!

I need to send that idea to Iger.. Man what I wouldnt give to be an imagineer.

This is exactly what many CM's are saying. they all have mixed feelings about the changes but you have to realize that if Walt was alive he probably would have changed the ride several times by now. Not to say the story line would have changed but the effects. I was talking to one of the guides and he believes that the tiki room would have been taken out and something new in its place if Walt was around. But that is just one persons interprutation.

I found out that another change will be in the scene with the well. Barbosa will be the one asking quetions about were Jack is. The man in the well will still be there, I wonder if they will make him come up higher and spit water like in WDW.

Another change to the park after the 50th will be the change over of Space Mountain into a new ride, I forget the name. The ride will be Space Mountain during the day but at around 6 or 7 at night it will change over to a "new ride" same ride different lighting effects and sound track. All of the LEDs in the track will be used finally and it will have different costumes for the CM's this is slated for sometime in Oct. - Dec. as of now. The change will only be in the name and what is listed above, the track is the same. The cool thing is they won't have to close the ride to upgrade it since all of the stuff is installed already they just have to flick a switch.

If I can remember any of the other changes I will post again.

That's it! Thanks spaulo. I couldn't remember it until now. Yes it will be space mountain by day and Rokit Mountain at night. I can't wait to see the switch over for the first time.

I don't think there's a specific date. What I heard, and this sounds the most reasonable, is they aren't going to use Rockit Mountain until current lines for SM decrease. If this is true, and judging by the current wait times, Rockit Mountain won't be opening for quite some time.

Also, If you're next to the sign, you can see where the fibers spell out "Rockit Mountain".

I'd love to get the soundtrack for that.

I wonder if what you say about the costume changes is true. Disney wanted to make the same costume throughout Tomorrowland. I can't see them spending the cash for two costumes for a single attraction. It would be cool though.

It will probably be the same design just different colors in the shoulder patches, like the difference between Astro Blasters and Space Mountain. If I remember correctly Astro Blasters has green Sholder patches and Space mountain has.........I want to say purple but I think that is the Star tours one. It's one of the ones in this pic:

Has anyone listened to the new Disneyland Resort Podcast off of iTunes? They talk all about this. It is really interesting and I know everyone would like to listen to it. It came out today and they talk to an imagineer about the pirates "enhancement." Ch-ch-check it out.
