I wonder if it will be like any other EMH evening with only select attractions open?Len90 wrote:Ummm wow. Smart promotional move as it is a Wednesday when kids are in school. Seems like minimal staffing will be needed unless the APs go all out for it.

I wish I could be there for this. I hope they start having mk open for 24 hours more often.

Not gonna happen. 3rd shift CMs would be really ticked!northernmousefan2007 wrote:I wish I could be there for this. I hope they start having mk open for 24 hours more often.

They really need that closed time to do maintenance and clean. A worthy use of the time for sure.

It's kind of an odd thing, I wonder how busy it will be? I also wonder if I decide "I'm goig to go at 2 AM" if I will be allowed in to park and whatnot.

That's an excellent question. I would guess they would have some sort of cut-off so they don't have to have security checking bags all night??Wizzard419 wrote:It's kind of an odd thing, I wonder how busy it will be? Re: MK open 24hrs on Feb 29, 2012 (?)
I don't see them not letting you in at 2am if you decide to go. The only question is whether they will still charge parking after 6pm (normal time they stop charging if I remember correctly). If the park is open for 24 hours, they will be checking bags for 24 hours. Another question would be will the Monorails and ferry boats run all the way through?Amy wrote:That's an excellent question. At DLR it's the monorails run on limited schedules, I think mostly due to construction. So they probably will not run the entire event, I do wonder if they will have only part of the park open, like they do with other special events?
Re: MK open 24hrs on Feb 29, 2012 (?)
Oops. I forgot it isn't just at Magic Kingdom. It's Disneyland park too. I was referring to the Monorails at WDW. We know there won't be any Monorails running on the Epcot line that late. I guess we'll have to wait and see how many people show up for the night. Most families with small kids will more than likely leave after the parade(s) and fireworks so the park should be mostly dead the rest of the night. I have a feeling it will mostly be CMs who work at the other parks and CMs who work at the resorts who aren't scheduled to work at WDW.Wizzard419 wrote:At DLR it's the monorails run on limited schedules, I think mostly due to construction. I'm willing to bet that the monorails start running after the park opening and stop running at midnight. The ferries will probably cut off sometime before that but will probably run for park opening. I really think it will be buses only for the wee hours of the morning at WDW and I also think bus service will be VERY limited.MadEye wrote:Oops. I forgot it isn't just at Magic Kingdom. Yes, I wouldn't think there would be many buses at all. I would imagine that people that are coming for the event will intend to stay the entire time. I think MadEye is correct that there will be a lot of CMs at the park that day/evening/wee hours too!Len90 wrote:I'm willing to bet that the monorails start running after the park opening and stop running at midnight. Monorails usually start running around 7am (Resort line). At least they try to be open by then. If the MK is scheduled to be open at 6am on the 29th of February, more than likely, they will probably start (hopefully) at least an hour before that. Otherwise, people who aren't staying at a resort will be s.o.l. while everyone from the resorts are getting in.Len90 wrote:I'm willing to bet that the monorails start running after the park opening and stop running at midnight.MadEye wrote:Oops. As for when they'll stop. I can see them taking the Epcot line Monorails off the line to bring them to Monorail Shop and work on them over the night and sometime between then when they usually open, switch the Monorails on the Express and Resort out for the ones from the Epcot line that Shop says are good to go.

With the static cuts to monorail service we have seen this summer you could see WDW providing monorail service the entire time for both resort and express? In order to switch monorails from EPCOT to the shop they need to use the express beam thus shutting down the service.
It should be interesting to see how Disney works this...

They do that anyway with the Halloween and Christmas parties at MK when Epcot always closes at 9 or 9:30. Heck there are days that aren't Party nights that the MK has closed at 3am (emh).Len90 wrote:With the static cuts to monorail service we have seen this summer you could see WDW providing monorail service the entire time for both resort and express? NaCler and I got to experience one of those 3 am park closings. It was awesome! The park was almost totally emptyMadEye wrote:They do that anyway with the Halloween and Christmas parties at MK when Epcot always closes at 9 or 9:30.
