WDW Railroad

On many sites I've gone to WDW is only listed as having four engines: Walter E Disney, Roy O. Disney, Roger E. Broggie and Lilly Belle, however I could have sworn there was fifth one, but I forgot the name. Does anyone else have any information on this?

Just drive by the monorail/train maintnence building and take a look. I cant remember how many were in there.

Scaronically (a combination of scary and ironically) I was playing the Disney Trivia game, and one of the questions was "what are the names of WDW's trains". The answer included the ones I mentioned above plus the Ward Kimball. What's the deal with this? I thought the Ward Kimball was at Disneyland?

That's odd. The Ward Kimball is indeed at Disneyland and was just officially dedicated last Wednesday. Here's what the official WDW site has to say about the trains:

The four trains are named Lilly Belle (named for Walt Disney's wife Lillian), Roy O. Disney (Walt's brother), Roger E. Broggie (Disney Imagineer) and Walter E. Disney.

maybe at one time it was at WDW you never know if they are refering to current Trains or any Train in the past. Maybe there is a spare in the Yard. I know at Knotts Berry Farm we had one train called the spruce Goose it ran on small crowd days and special special events

I took the Railroad tour a few years back (highly recommended by the way

) and they only mentioned 4 that were used at the park....

They did buy a 5th engine when they bought the other 4. Mr. Broggie got that one for basically nothing, but it was soo rusted out and only held together by paint that they could not use it.... Does that help???

See I thought something like that was true it happens and if they retro fit the bad one then they name it. You never know whats going on in the backlot.

Another other quick fact..... the trains in WDW are real working trains from the Yucatan Moutains..while the ones in DL were made by Disney. Walt never liked the ones he made and thus Mr. Broggie seached the globe to find actual trains for WDW. They spend a small fortune to maintain those priceless trains with complete overhauls every 5 years....

Just another reason why WDW is just a special magical place...

Wow. Does anyone know about the trains in Disneyland paris then. Were they specially made or "actual" trains like WDW.

Wow! That's a major misprint on Disney's part then! The question specifically asked how many there were. Five was the answer and then it listed the names. I also found a few more errors in the game. I guess the people that made it were not Disney experts.

(And while I'm on the rant of Disney errors, I happened to watch Jurassic Park this weekend, and John Hammond says Disneyland opened in 1956. Thta ticked me off. Stupid Universal

Disney geek is a bit of an understatement!

As for the fifth locomotive, often times it is just easier to buy one for parts than it is to keep buying them. I work with railroads and that is pretty common with smaller railroads and tourist operations so for the folks at WDW to pick up a 5th for parts while they still could would make sense.

Maybe the one that is missing is being worked on. They all have to get overhauled every 5 years. so if there are five trains that means one is always in the shop getting overhauled. I found this out from one of the railroad CM's. As for them having an extra engine I don't know if they need that Disney has several machine shop to make their own parts for various rides, vehicles, etc.
