Who else loves the buses at WDW?

I rented a car for my stay this year and found that using the transports like I did last year was more convenient than driving to the parks then taking the tram to the front gate or even sometimes the monorail as well to get to the front gate.Its quicker using the transport.

Completely agree. The transportation system here is pretty darn efficient. I love having someone else deal with traffic and do the driving for us

You actually answered your question with taking down the number. In 2004 Disney started giving away the model year of the buses after the bus number, hence the reason why the newer buses will have a four digit number a dash and then a two digit number. -04 means the bus is a 2004 and was probably just cleaned up. The newest buses you will see range from 5023-11 to 5069-11. You're probably not seeing many of the RTS buses (3 steps to enter) on the routes this time.

I was visiting a friend in NYC last week, and while sitting on the MTS bus back to LaGuardia listening to SR on my phone, I couldn't help but think that it would have been a much nicer ride if Disney were in charge of everything...of course you'd have to limit the buses to non-New Yorkers.

Thanks Len - I wondered after I had jotted down the number. The one we were on last night was very nice and I mentioned to the driver that it must be new. He sort of chuckled and said, "No, just well taken care of."
As for the buses with steps, I think we've only had two, both on the same day!

IF you are really curious to know the year of the bus you are on, simply jot down the number of the bus and then look it up on this thread: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6469 Sometimes you will be really surprised by how old the bus you are on actually is.

Yeah but then you are forgetting the Nova's with the circle headlights and the large curvy windshield that is just one piece of glass.

Floridian that always has a car on property here. I avoid the buses like the plague. The only time I'll ride the bus is if I'm going to and from the MK during not "rush hour" times. Waiting in a line of 100 people when I first wake up and hoping I squeeze in a bus, so I don't have to wait another 30 mins for the next one to come, is not my cup of tea. Transportation in general in WDW had become severely overwhelmed. The monorail has had significant delays the last 3 times I have used it. Over an hour wait each time. I have also waited more than an hour on several occasions for buses. One time we had to start a revolt to get a cast members attention as we watched bus after bus for other resorts come and go, yet no bus to riverside. We finally got through to the CM and they re-routed another resorts bus to our depot. Great waste of an afternoon.

Transportation time is extremely fast by car if you avoid World Drive and walk into the park rather than take the trams. Cant stand having to fold 2 strollers just for a minute long tram ride. Only to re assemble and fill with stuff.

I will say, during slower times of year I love taking empty buses too and from the parks with no wait time. That is truly magical.

I love disney's FREE transporation. When we drive to disney we will park our car and it doesnt get moved again till we have to go home. That saves me gas money. Also I get to parks and resorts faster because buses can use certain roads that cars cant use. When we fly we use the Magical Express so we dont have to do a retal. Im always looking for a way to save money. Other than Disney I dont use public transporation.

There is something to be said for not having to drive at all while you are on vacation ~ I love that aspect of Disney transportation!

I LOVE the WDW bus system. Prior to this past October, our last trip was in 2007. Now, the buses have a music system unique to each resort. I also love how at each Park's closing, the buses line up and state the Park's name rather than to what resort they're assigned. I think they now have the ability to adjust it on the fly. (Just guessing here. Please, help me out.) I was so impressed on our past trip with how quickly they handled park closings. Very, very impressed!
