All of the above were fun and clean, but, hands down, my favorite has always been the Ft. Wilderness cabins. You've got the horseback riding, woodsy environs, relaxing seclusion, and close proximity to the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. Plus, the full kitchen and grill outside allow for making fun meals in the cabin and saving money. Am soon to be a new dad and will definitely be taking my kid there! =)
Congratulations on your soon to be Daddyhood! Have a lot of great memories while staying in the cabins at Ft. Wilderness!

By far my favorite has been the Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's so beautiful and nice. Although, I doubt we will stay there again. Too much money to spend such little time there.
We've stayed at Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, All Star Movies, and All Star Music. (those are all I can remember). We're staying at All Star Sports this time. The little brother is going to love it. I'm not too picky about a resort, though. As long as it's got clean sheets and running water. Maybe we will get a room that's not five miles from the bus stop this time, though.

Cub, be sure to call and put in that request. They'll do their best to honor it, and if they don't, they'll have it on file if you want to change.

You can always ask for something different at check-in. Last vacation I was at All Star Movies and wasn't satisfied with the distance of my room from the main building so I simply said so and they changed it.

Wilderness Lodge hands down. I love the theming and the fact that everything is under one roof.

So happy you chose WL :goofy_bounce: ! Just this past week I decided when I buy back into the DVC, it's going to be the WL. I have been there, not to stay, we rode bikes over from FTW just to check it out. We even toured one of the villas. Love the rustic atmosphere, location, pool, and that incredible lobby :hm_ghost: ! It also helped me decide when the points for DVC resale seem to be the most reasonable at this resort than any other that I have been interested in :D .

Are the points for resale a lot lower than the initial purchase price? Do you still have to have that big honking investment right up front?

ALOT LOWER! Most of the DVC resorts are sold out, so if you purchase directly through Disney it's usually just the latest DVC resort that is available, @ the moment I think Animal Kingdom Lodge, and of course Aulani. AKL I think is $120. pp, I don't know if Aulani is more because of local. In DVC resales, points can be as low as in the $55. range to $105.pp. It all depends on the resort, and the demand I guess. I had been looking into the BLT & BC resorts, but they seem to be relatively high priced. WL is very reasonable, and I'm only looking to purchase between 50 & 75 pts anyway. That would get me there every other year, and my dues would be do-able. That's another great thing about re-sales, you can purchase fewer points. When I purchased directly from Disney, smallest package was 150 pts. My pts @ BW sold for $77pp. Believe me, I have looked into other ways to visit, but I'm spoiled now, so I want to stay in a nice resort  . I checked out buying one time vacation pts from a member on a reputable website, and it was still SO EXPENSIVE! For the price of one visit I could add a little more to it, buy back into DVC, and have my acommodations taken care of for many years to come :D . Hoping I can pull it off in the next couple of years, crossing my fingers, and everything else :mickey:. I really want to get there by 2014, when the Fantasyland expansion should be complete  .

Good luck Sharonofwindham, sounds like you have it all figured out. One of my piano families owned DVC and when they first got in they gave me the tough sell, but it was sooooo confusing to me  and I didn't have that kind of money anyhow  still don't :(
I'm thinking maybe one of the busy days this vacation could be checking out the resorts. But I'm wondering how bad the transportation will be getting around though...

Thanks, Amy. I'm tryin' :? . Looking forward to getting back to Disney soon :ccat: . It's not just you, when I was first looking into DVC I had to watch the video a few times before I started to understand how it all worked :? . The whole points banking & borrowing thing! I was looking for some kinda catch, it all sounded to good to be true  .

Sounds like you need to teach more piano lessons or charge more! ;) Just kiddin'! :hatter_bounce:

My mom and stepdad, and stepsister and her husband, are both DVC members. They own in BLT (which still looks like bacon lettuce tomato to me). Two years ago my mom and stepdad took my family and my sister's family on an all-paid vacation to WDW for a full week, and we stayed in a grand villa at Saratoga Springs. LOVED IT. The villa was bigger than my house! Anyway, the 10 of us, three families, had plenty of room. My sister, husband, and kids took one upstairs room, we took the other. Both upstairs rooms are as big as a regular hotel room. Mom and Stepdad stayed in the master suite on the first level. My daughters took over the fourth full bathroom on the main level off the kitchen and we all had plenty of room. Transportation was little or no problem, either. I would highly recommend Saratoga to anyone traveling in a group.

I stayed at Poly when I was a little kid (like 6th grade) and remember loving the pool but don't remember anything else about our room or the resort itself. That's when 'Ohana was a fancy, sit-down restaurant and not the more rambunctious place it is now. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE 'Ohana!!! It's just different from what I remember about our 1980 trip.

We've stayed at All Star Movies, Pop Century, and Saratoga. Pop Century was pretty good but it just seemed so loud. Hubby worked as a security guard several years ago and said ALL the problems are at the "value" resorts and he doesn't want to stay in one. My experience was pre-this-hubby and it was OK. Like most people said, you don't really spend much time at the resort unless you purposely hang around the pools and such.

Next October my parents are taking us on another trip ( :!: :!: :!: :!: ) and we're staying in BLT. I can't wait for that, as it looks REALLY nice! I would also like to try Coronado Springs. No one has really mentioned it yet. Is it ok? I know it's pretty big. Just wondering how much people like it.

Wow ~ that is nice that your parents are taking you again! I'll be interested to hear what you think of BLT...I always think of the sandwich too
I know boilerbabe stayed at the Coronado Springs not that long ago. She really seemed to like it!

My parents are DVC owners and prefer OKW over Saratoga Springs (they haven't stayed at BLT). They like OKW because the units are bigger, they are more like a home away from home and not a hotel room which is the feeling they got from Saratoga Springs.
