Momeja, I've found the neck restraints help because they keep me from being thrown around.

That's so interesting, because I've found they completely hoop me! If I'm going to suffer after a rollercoaster ride, it's always one that has a neck restraint. I think the restraint throws all the shock into my neck and shoulders, while the lap belts enable my whole body to absorb the shock. I've gotten severe headaches after too many times on RnRC but never after Space or EE no matter how many times I ride them.Soarin08 wrote: Momeja, I've found the neck restraints help because they keep me from being thrown around.
Do the roller coasters there actually fling you that much?momeja wrote:That's so interesting, because I've found they completely hoop me! I find Space Mountain to be pretty rough. EE was fairly smooth but you do get jostled a bit. RnR is probably the smoothest to me, but I know my head bounces around in the restraint so I can see where people that have some tendency toward motion sickness could have some problems. I think it comes down to how badly you want to experience an attraction and whether you are willing to put up with a little discomfort afterwards to have had the experience. Some people are willing, some aren't. Those views probably change a bit as you get older and wiserntgre wrote:Do the roller coasters there actually fling you that much?momeja wrote:That's so interesting, because I've found they completely hoop me! Say it ain't so, Amy. For me, it's not motion sickness, it's headaches. If all that shock goes to my neck and head, I know what will follow. That's why the "older and wiser" me never rides RnRC more that a couple of times each trip while my younger daughter will ride 8 times if she can.Amy wrote:Those views probably change a bit as you get older and wiser![]()
Yup, at some point you do have to acknowledge the aches and pains with growing older. F1gment was very disappointed that she couldn't ride Dumbo this past trip, but with her back injury prior to leaving and then her knee injury while there, we (meaning me) just didn't feel it wise to try to get in and out of Dumbo. She had some difficulties on the Norway boat so did not attempt Pirates either. Luckily she is one who really appreciates all the details of the parks and is happy to slow down and people watch. It is me who will be dragged kicking and screaming away from attractions I am no longer able to ridemomeja wrote:Say it ain't so, Amy. For me, it's not motion sickness, it's headaches. We went twice in a row this past trip and neither of us went stark raving mad. Although F1gment did say later she wondered how I talked her into going around twicentgre wrote:Lots of people said that if you ride It's a small world at least twice in a row, you will be driving mad at the song. Interesting! EE actually did make me very nauseous once, but it might have been because I was riding on an empty stomach, who can say. RnRC never bothers me in the least. It's so much smoother, the smoothest of all the coasters, both at Disney and elsewhere, I've been on.momeja wrote:That's so interesting, because I've found they completely hoop me! 17 times in one day?!?! Wow ~ I hope your sister has thanked them now that she has gotten older ~ that was indeed a sacrifice! I like IASW and I'm not sure I could handle it that many times. Although I suppose if you are watching the delight in your child's eyes, that might make it worthwhile...might...Soarin08 wrote:As for IASW, one our first trip in 1997, my then 4yo sister was in love with that ride. 17 times in ONE day over a 10 day trip. I'm not criticising you, but why is that?northernmousefan2007 wrote:I would have to love whoever I'm with dearly to ride IASM 17 times. After 3 times I would be ready to jump overboard.
I really appreciate the message it sends and would never miss going on it when I'm at the magic kingdom. That being said the song is really annoying after long periods of time, and there is no thrilling part to enjoy multiple times. Carousel of Progress on the other hand, I could sit and watch that show from morning until night.ntgre wrote:I'm not criticising you, but why is that?northernmousefan2007 wrote:I would have to love whoever I'm with dearly to ride IASM 17 times. Haha, my sister seems to have been affected by hearing the song one too many times...Amy wrote:17 times in one day?!?! I'd be sitting right beside you for Carousel of Progress ~ I love that show. And there are so many details to look for each time!northernmousefan2007 wrote:I really appreciate the message it sends and would never miss going on it when I'm at the magic kingdom.
