Disney Wonder Cruise

Post by WDWAddict » Jan Tue 31, 2006 3:35 pm

My wife just got back from the 3 night cruise to the Bahamas on the Disney Wonder and it was awesome. Next time we will actually bring the kids!!!! My only complaint was that it wasn't longer (but that is MY fault). The food was excellent, shows were incredible, and Castaway Cay is excellent.

Anyone else have any Disney Cruise Line experiences?

We are thinking of doing a 7 night in a year or two.

Definitely do the 7 night cruise. I have been on two 7-nighters. Fun, fun, fun. I was taken on an Alaskan cruise this past summer on Princess Cruise Line, and the entire week I wished I was on Disney Cruise Line. The service aboard DCL is just beyond compare! Disney is the only line I want to cruise on now, and I don't even have kids!

LOL Addict - that's the biggest complaint that I hear. I've been on it and book them. I love cruising.

CMCD - there is a lot of feedback to Disney to have an Alaskan cruise - I HIGHLY suggest that you write to them and let them know you would love to see that itinerary.

right now, we are hoping that the rumors for a Mediteranean cruise for 2007 is true. They've only released the 7-nighters up through April, and we are hoping they will release them soon.

They're not rumors... At least not anymore. I think booking starts in April, I think. My wife and I were just talking about going on one last night, but we agreed that, combined with the cost and actual flight to get overseas and the overall expense of what the cruise will UNDOUBTEDLY cost, it just wasn't for us. At that point, I'd rather just pay for the flight and hoof it around the Mediterranean on our own. :) But, yeah, I think it's 11 nights, which would be AWESOME!

Oh, and we're actually leaving on our third Disney cruise (the second seven day) this weekend! DEFINITELY go for the seven day if you can... With the three day, just when you start to get used to the cruise, you have to get off. :)

According to the Disney Vacation Club site, there is an 11-night cruise to the Southern Bahamas on the Disney Wonder, setting sail on 9/17. That would be AWESOME!!!!

There is no doubt Disney Cruises are expensive - although our experience has been that it is worth every penny. As DVC members we paid for it with points (still had to pay for the flight and transfers!)

Yeah, but a Mediterranean one would be INSANELY expensive.

Actually, as Florida residents, it's pretty awesome. We actually just got upgraded from a Cat 9 to a Cat 5 for a hundred bucks. :) But, yeah, price-wise they're quite a bit more expensive. But since most people only really get one good vacation a year, why do it only half-way? Go all out and have the best time you can! :)

Right now, it's kind of a pain to get a Disney Cruise this year, because the other ship is on the west coast. :(

I'm a Disney-only TA - until it's official, I always look at things as rumors.

Jack - why not consider one of the transition cruises? Then you're only dealing in one set of flights? Also, both ships are in Florida this summer. The West Coast cruises were last summer.

OOops. My mistake. I read it somewhere, and I thought it was an official announcement. My bad!

And my bad about the cruise, too. I forgot that the reason why we're going this year was BECAUSE the west coast cruises were last year and the Florida ones were booked. Sorry. :)

LOL - don't worry at all! I'm sure you've read it all over the place. Everyone is talking about it EXCEPT Disney.

LOLOL - your cracking me up about the cruises, too. I wish we lived close enough to pop on one of the last minute FL ones. Don't apologize, seems like just yesterday we were booking them and now they are gone!

I've done the Disney Cruise twice now. Both times aboard the Disney Magic. The ship was fantastic. And the crew is top notch.

I've done one non-Disney cruise. It was way cheaper, but it paled in comparison.

I've posted about it elsewhere though, so I won't rattle on about it.

I agree. It's worth the extra money. Disney's food isn't quite up to some of the other cruises, but service is AMAZING. And if you have kids, there's really no other option. :)

I've done a 3 night and a 7 night (Western). I can't imagine sailing any other line....

Just got back yesterday (I should note that I was on the Magic), and had one of my best vacations ever!!! I missed Hercules, which was always my favorite shows, but the new Cinderella show was a great compromise. Definitely one of the most technically savvy productions you'll find on sea, and the songs were fantastic... but I'm still a Hercules fan at heart. They also did a fireworks show on Pirates In The Caribbean night, which was really nifty. And I also won Who Wants To Be A Mousketeer, getting a pin and a very cool glass... thingy or another... with the Who Wants To Be A Mousketeer logo engraved on it. :D Also, the food took a turn for the better, though I still wouldn't give it four stars anywhere but Palo's.
