"Hooray! You're going to Disney!" Emails for Room Only?
I always love getting those emails Disney sends you all the time when you book a trip that help you get ready for your trip and countdown. However, the only email I've ever gotten for this trip was the confirmation number email. It seemed odd to me that I haven't been getting them and I was a little bit disappointed by it. But now with my booking fiasco described in my trip thread (which could have been noticed and fixed earlier by those emails), it has me curious how many, if any, of these emails you get when you book a room only? That was the only thing the reservation people could think of, but we've booked a mixture of packages and room only and I can't remember any trips where I didn't get emails.

I really didn't get any emails this past December and we booked a package. That is how I missed the fact that the final payment needed to be made x-many days out from our trip.

Huh, that's strange. Most trips I get them very often - maybe once or twice a month far out, then weekly and every few days as you get close. It shares information about your resort (which obviously would have been helpful in this instance), attractions you might like, a countdown. I even checked my junk mail folder and haven't gotten a single one.

You would think they would always do it - it's marketing for them to make sure you're happy and excited, plus to advertise more things for you to spend money on there.
The lady said it's subcontracted out through their Marketing Department, so it didn't sound like there would be a good way to ask anyone about it.

It might be your email provider as well, some companies don't fare well with certain ones (like Yahoo, gmail might also suspect it's spam if it is daily emails).
There is nothing important in them, right?

We had two rooms for our Aug. trip which were booked the same way and everything. I only received emails for one of the rooms. The other room we received information via regular mail. The other option is did you transfer your reservation over to AAA? Once you transfer your reservation you no longer received anything from Disney.

I thought about that and went through my junk mail folder and still didn't see any. And it does have important information if you're booked at the wrong resort.Wizzard419 wrote:It might be your email provider as well, some companies don't fare well with certain ones (like Yahoo, gmail might also suspect it's spam if it is daily emails).

AAA is a specific discount for AAA members, right? We booked an AP discount room only reservation.Len wrote:The other option is did you transfer your reservation over to AAA? Once you transfer your reservation you no longer received anything from Disney.

That's so weird. I am thinking about emailing Disney to try to find out more information.jmenjes wrote:I have a room only reservation for next weekend, and I've been getting the e-mails from Disney every few weeks...just got one last week reminding me about taking advantage of online check-in.

If the email doesn't like the sender, they won't let the email reach your spam folder either. That's why your spam folder may only get a few pieces of mail a day rather than 100's. They try and stop junk mail from entering the service to begin with (since it costs them money)

Wow. I am kind of bummed. we have always gone through a travel agent or MEI travel. I have never received the e-mails from Disney. We are heading down again in February and did our arrangements through MEI travel. Next time I think I will make reservations on my own. I guess that is half the fun.

An email saying hooray you're going... would be awesome. I go at least twice a year and I've never received anything except the confirmation email and sometimes I don't even receive that

I've noticed they don't send you the cute luggage tags anymore for your suitcase or vouchers for a free round of mini-golf, arcade card etc...this makes me sad.
