I'll be staying at the Contemporary this October. It is my first visit to the parks in nearly 10 years and I'm excited about getting to stay at one of my favorite resorts!

here is a little hint for those on their first trip to the resort hotels
call disney first and see if rooms are available in your price range then while talking to them visit one of the three big online hotel finder websites
and see if they are offering the same rooms at the same price (online is general cheaper ) disney will almost always beat the price and give you a lower room or better upgraded room for the origal price

be sure to take advantage of those park tickets they offer as part of a package unless you are a florida resident or in the military its the best value you can get with out having to sit through a high pressure timeshare session

now this is a no brainer
i have been going since the park opened in 1971 in a stroller and so on
do not try to see each park in a single day you will get burned out due the lines and the heat schedule each park for 2 days a piece that way you and your kids if you have any will be lessed stressed
and if you are staying in the resorts take advantage of the buses and trams to the hotels and take a break half way through the day the park on a average is open 14 hours aday

hope this helps to all you tourists on a virgin trip to the resorts
and by the way the contempary is the best hotel to stay at just watching the monorails zipping throught concourse at breakfast is one of the best things to see early in the morning

i think my 29 years of going to the Walt Disney World Resort and the orlando area can help any of you first timer to enjoy yourselves on your dream vacation

i know this is not part of the parks but in the orlando area are several dinner-shows that are really great to go and see one of my favorites is Dolly Partons Dixie Stampede
the last time I was there the Electric Cowboy from down under was the open act in the Carriage Room http://www.dixiestampede.com/orlando.php

or for just a fun time out at night is old town located just off I4 in kississimee free to visit and has amusement rides, shops and resturants open late as well as classic car club meets on the weekends
http://www.old-town.com/

i know that the hotels in Walt Disney World Resort can provide car service to these places and more so just ask the person at the front counter for assistance

We're spending our first night at Pop Century then transferring over to the Beach Club Villas for a week. Were hoping to get Wilderness Lodge again, but there was no availability  Got on the wait list, though, and are keeping our fingers crossed 'til December!

Hey let us know how the Pop Century is! I've seen pics and it looks like such a fun place to stay. I want to stay there sometime and just walk around the area.

We are staying at POFQ in August. We love this resort. Have stayed at Carribbean and POR but for us, the best is POFQ. Have done the camping bit many times and I am with the poster about wanting AC and a PRIVATE shower!!! Have done the tent thing and the camper and have to say I like coming back to a cool room and having the beds made and the room all straightened up after a long day in the parks!!!!!

Well, I started this thread with our stay last year, and now I am ready to post about our trip for this coming May, and it will be at the Boardwalk. I called yesterday and was able to get in for Memorial weekend. I was very surprised. This will be my 3rd stay at the Boardwalk and I am looking forward to it very much.

I'm going to Old Key West for 12 nights in May. I love OKW. It's my favorite.

Twelve nights, I am jealous. I love OKW, too, especially for a 1 or 2 bedroom, but I prefer the studios in the newer DVC resorts. You can't beat those huge balconies and main living areas at OKW.
