Ahhhhhhh, skip the planning. You can go without and think of it like camping: you will be "roughing it in the wilderness", "living the day just by your wits", yada, yada, yada... :mickey:

And it will be just me by myself so I can wing it.

Don't forget to make your final payment if you haven't already. That was one thing that almost cancelled our last trip  I came home to find a message on the answering machine about the ressies being cancelled if they didn't hear from me that day! And I had never gotten an email or anything!
Yup, if you are going by yourself I would think you should be able to figure out what you are doing on the fly. I usually take a peek at which parks have early or late EMH, and the fireworks/evening shows, and build from there. I try to give Mom a few choices as well, but she is usually happy to let me figure out the plan of parks for our days.
You'll have sooooo much fun! Where are you planning on staying? Do you have any ADR's?

Must be different for CM bookings. We always just pay our deposit then either pay on it as we go or finish paying upon check-in. :?

I didn't book a package, just a room only and they said the final payment was due at check-in.

Maybe the packages are different ~ we did have a package with room/tickets/and a dining plan which came with the package deal.

That's how we always do it too, and when I book as a cast member, we get to add the dining plan without it being a full package since we get family in the parks for free and therefore don't require tickets. Payments are made at check-in or throughout the time before we go down... which is way easier.

I understand that mentality completely!!! (though it's been 8 years since our last trip to WDW)
That was how it felt not going to DL for 2 years...now it feels like we have to "make up for lost time" ;)

We've been in the habit of going 1-2 times a year as a family since I started working there so it would feel weird for me to not go for a very long span of time. My dad in particular is already talking about coming in January and trying to decide on the resort (he wants to go just me and him for a weekend like we did last time, we have too much fun since my mom isn't around to whine, plus my dad lets me pick any restaurant I want and we go there).

We hadn't gone for 10 years prior to going this past December. It's funny, I missed going, but now that we've been, I'm so eager to go back. right. NOW!!! The fact that we have these AP burning a hole in our pockets probably isn't helping either

You're exactly right. No matter how frequently or infrequently you are accustomed to visiting, when you first get back it's so hard and painful. How long this stage lasts varies from person to person, but it DOES get easier with time. In a way, it's kind of like the grieving process.

As a child, my family was pretty faithful one a year WDW visitors. But once I went to college, my sisters and I were on different schedules and we didn't go back for four years. At first, it was horrible as always, but honestly I felt worse in the 5 months between our last trip and deciding when we could go on this upcoming trip (we didn't think we'd be back for a while, so it ended up being a nice surprise) than how I felt overall those four years. WDW is definitely an addictive drug - the more you get, the crazier and more desperately you need it.
