Ahhh, the intrigue... I love it. I can assure you that at least one of you is correct. Pics/trip report will come soon.
mindflipper - Night of Joy has always been held in the Magic Kingdom to the best of my knowledge. Also, remember I have already met Soarin, so I meant another member that I had not previously met. But, thanks for playing.
Soarin - I am sorry that I did not get to meet up with you again. We decided to stay in the Magic Kingdom on Saturday (you'll find out why in the report), so we didn't make it over to EPCOT. I hope your trip was as awesome as ours was. Friday night I saw a young lady in a retro Yellow Submarine shirt at All Star Sports and it made me think of you.
Good guesses everyone. I will post more soon.

Re: The Many Adventures of NaCler (& Family)
Let me take you back to last Friday, 9/9/11... *diddly-doo, diddly-doo* (yes, that's a Wayne's World reference)
The kids get out of school about 3pm. Our Night of Joy tickets will get us in the MK as early as 4pm, even though the event doesn't start until 7pm officially. We are about 2-2.5 hours away form WDW. You do the math. The first act we want to see is Jeremy Camp who starts at 7:45 on the Castle stage. So, we figure even if we get in traffic, which we will since it will be about 5pm when we hit Orlando, we should be ok. Sure enough, traffic hits about 5:15 in downtown Orlando. We're creeping along and we notice a huge dark cloud over the entire Orlando area. The last thing we need at an outdoor concert is rain. We got through traffic pretty quickly (about 45 minutes) and then as traffic normally lets up... the DELUGE... You couldn't go faster than 15 MPH due to the downpour. Lightning was crashing all around us. It was pretty bad. PLUS, it was about 6:15 and we hadn't even made it to our resort yet.
Our resort... You have online check-in to avoid waiting in lines, correct? NOPE, the online check-in was just as crowded as the regular check-in line. Took us about 20 minutes to check in. So, it's roughly 7pm and Jeremy Camp starts at 7:45 and we still have to catch a bus to the MK. We concluded that we had no time to go to the room first so we get in line for the bus. Of course, we are first in line as a bus had just left a minute earlier heading for the MK. While in line, it begins to rain again.
We get to the MK about 7:30, in plenty of time to see Jeremy Camp because due to the massive storm that went through, the stage had to be broken down and set back up again. He went on-stage just after 8pm. Here are some shots from the show:

Pretty good concert, but it was cut short due to the rain (which stopped for the night as soon as he started playing).
We had some time before the next concert, so we took a couple of pictures, got some dinner at Cosmic Ray's and rode a couple of rides:

I wasn't as impressed with the Haunted Mansion ending as I thought I was going to because it happens too fast. We ended up with Gus on top of our buggy pulling our faces off, but it seemed too rushed so I was a little disappointed.
We ended up seeing Sidewalk Prophets at 10:15pm and were so impressed by them that we hung around in Tomorrowland (Thank you Buzz for being Walk-on) until their 11:55pm show as well. Here are two shots of them:

Yes, that is the lead singer with a Mickey hat and a ukelele. He was singing Bare Necessities.
When they finished it was about a minute before 1am (park closing) and we booked it towards Space Mountain. They shut the gate in our faces as we were about 20 yards away from the entrance. Oh well, we'll have to try again the next day.
I was really impressed with Disney transportation as the entire queue for All Star Sports was being used (naturally, the cheapest hotel would have the most guests). But we only waited about 5 minutes as they had 2 or 3 buses back-to-back to get us. By the time we got back to the hotel, got our stuff and finally got into our room and in bed, it was about 2:30am. We decided to wake up whenever and decide then what to do for the day.

Wow ~ that is a long afternoon/evening! I keep thinking you had the kids with you and am impressed that you stayed 'til closing, but then I remembered, it was a romantical getaway for Mr. and Mrs. NaCler
I have been pretty impressed with how Disney handles the bus crush at closing. It might be a little frustrating and confusing at times, but they get you moving, especially at the All Stars...
Bummer about the ending at the Haunted Mansion. Hopefully you got to ride it again to get a better feel for it.

Re: The Many Adventures of NaCler (& Family)
Saturday, 9/10
We woke up about 9am as I received a text from my mom that my dad was doing much better. He had a 2 day stretch in which we were pretty sure the end was near, so it was great waking up to this news. He is still doing well to this day, thank you for the support Disney family. We briefly discussed going to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios, but I was really depressed that a lot of the attractions that I wanted to see at the MK were closed during Night of Joy, so we talked ourselves into going back there during the day so that we could do everything. I'm glad we did. Here are some pics we took around the park of the Halloween atmosphere that they had already set up:

The attractions that were closed at night were: Jungle Cruise, Tiki Room, People Mover, MILF, Country Bears and Carousel of Progress. We did everything except for MILF and Country Bears.
We were even able to ride Space Mountain twice with less than a 10 minute wait, in the middle of the day!
Here are some random shots of rides and other stuff:

We had a 5pm ressie for Kona Cafe so we left the MK around 4pm. I took some shots of the surrounding areas and a lot of the Poly for BB:

Then it was time for dinner... (These pics are from my phone, so they don't do the food justice)
Starting with Sticky Wings:
Then on to the BBQ Pomegranate Pork Chops:
After dinner we went to Captain Cooks (Thanks BB!) and had a create your own Dole Whip. MMmMmMm... we talked about coming back after the park closed to get another one.
After dinner we did more attractions as we only wanted to see one group later, MercyMe:

Then for the highlight of the night. We went to the Tiki Room earlier in the day hoping that packwingfan would be our CM. I was disappointed as we didn't see him. Later, when we had some time to spare we checked out the Magic Carpets and there he was! I got in line and spotted his CM badge to verify it was him. I approached him and asked if he was packwingfan on Subsonic. He looked a little apprehensive but said yes. I told him that I was NaCler and I would love to get my pic with him. After a great ride in which I didn't get wet, surprisingly because the wife was driving, we waited so I could get a pic. He was extremely nice and took the time to meet with me while people anxiously awaited their carpet ride. If you are in the MK, I suggest you take to time to search for him. He is extremely nice guy and an excellent CM. I was very glad to have met up with him. He gave me permission to post the pic:

The exit was basically the same as the night before. Minimal wait for a bus and bed by about 2am. We had to get up at 7am to get on the road as we have season tickets to the Jags (yeah, I hear those jeers) and we needed to be back to tailgate for Opening Day.
That was our brief trip to the World. I hope you enjoyed it. I have more pics of concerts/general stuff if anyone wants more. Just let me know.
Hopefully my next trip is sometime in October, but it will depend on work.

Re: The Many Adventures of NaCler (& Family)
Wow ~ whirlwind trip
I'm surprised so many attractions were closed during the Night of Joy. I suppose that is because people are there to see the concerts, not ride the attractions...How was Mercy Me? I only know a few of their songs but I do like them.
Love the pics of you two hamming it up on Buzz and Space Mountain ~ looks like they are getting more aggressive on placing something really obtrusive on the ride photos so people will purchase them instead of just snapping a photo with their phone. I really wonder if they will simply stop having the preview screens one of these days, and you will have to go up to the counter to see them.
Great photos of the various resorts. I don't take much time to do that so I enjoy seeing others' photos of resorts.
Yay for meeting packwingfan and him letting you post a pic! He looks just like I imagined him to look ~ on no wait, I've seen him on Facebook
He looks happy there in Adventureland!
Above all, glad your Dad is still doing ok. Getting close to his trip for Food and Wine now

I forgot packwingfan worked at MK! I don't know his first name or I'd have gone by to say hello. He worked with my roommate from my last CP, apparently.

Re: The Many Adventures of NaCler (& Family)
Amy - Thanks. MercyMe was really good and I was glad I stayed in the park to see them. They weren't on until 11:55pm Saturday, so we were pretty tired by the time they took the stage. But, they did most of their big hits, so we were able to sing along. We weren't too upset about missing church on Sunday since we pretty much had it in the middle of the MK!
Soarin' - His name is Derek. I had to confirm it before I looked like an idiot asking him if he was on Subsonic. He's usually at Carpets/Tiki Room/Pirates although I do believe he mentioned he may be at the Mansion soon.
BB - Thanks. I hope you enjoyed the Poly pics and that they didn't get you too depressed. I tried the Orange/Vanilla swirl DW float this time (that's the one in the picture) and it was very good. But, I think the original swirl that I had at the Poly is my favorite.

I forgot to post this pic of another snack/treat we had in the MK that I really now endorse if you haven't tried one yet. The ice cream cookie sandwich from Sleepy Hollow. Two huge fresh chocolate chip cookies and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. MMmMMmmMmm...

Wow seems like a pair of busy days for you. Looks like you really made the most of your your day and a half at the parks.
Packwingfn is one of the most amazing CMs I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I was able to enjoy a Tiki preshow from him and caught him at the carpets a couple of times. He is one of the most happiest people you will ever meet and you can really tell he loves his job.NaCler wrote:He was extremely nice and took the time to meet with me while people anxiously awaited their carpet ride. Seriously, I am amazed how much you can get done in just one day...
