Let's see if you still believe that after a year of being stuck in traffic for an hour trying to get to work, having to make dining reservations a month in advance just because you want to take your wife out to eat in the Disney area during the summer, or just simply want to enjoy a day at Disney when everyone else in the world (literally) is trying to do the same. It gets old after a while.
Don't get me wrong, I love it. But when you live down here, you'll soon find that waiting in line for longer than 15 minutes is unacceptable, and tourists are really, really annoying. Disney is definitely susceptible to the law of diminshed returns.

Nope. It's that bad all the time. I-4, the major highway to and from attractions is always a bear. Especially during rush hour, but it happily chugs along at any given time. Factor in special events like Mardi Gras, Horror Nights, Soap Week, Daytona 500, etc... and it's just a mess. Not only that, but the summer weekends see a lot of locals going to either Tampa or Daytona. It's just as bad locally in Orlando which is basically unaffected by tourists. The area just wasn't designed with crowds in mind.
They working on widening roads and such, but for the time being that's just making it worse.

It cracks me up to hear your Floridians talk about traffic. There is no way the traffic can be worse then the NJ/NYC area. We have like 15 lanes of traffic and its crawls... crazySpringheeledJack wrote:Nope. It's that bad all the time. I-4, the major highway to and from attractions is always a bear. And if the traffic is bad, you do the local thing and take a back road

Heh heh... It's that bad, or at least close to it.
On top of that, the drivers are a MILLION time worse. In NY/NJ people know where they want to go. In Florida, nobody knows where anything is. And if they do, it's because they're 90 and have lived here all their life. We have more incidents of road rage here than probably anywhere in the world.
So, while you can still get to where you're going with only a 45 minute to an hour delay, it's a far more FRUSTRATING drive.
As for backroads, they're actually WORSE, since there seems to be an overabundance of stoplights everywhere. For example, my wife takes the expressway into work every morning. It takes her about an hour to get to work, and about twenty minutes to get back... On the EXPRESSWAY. When she's taken local roads (they're almost all one or two lanes), the trip typically takes around an hour and a half. Of course, it depends on where and when you're going, but it's pretty much a mess to go anywhere.

Here in Philly the road rage just got worse, A man was stabbed for getting in an accident with another guy. We also have/had, don't know if they still are, two of the worst intersections in the US. US-1 and Red Lion Rd., and US-1 and Grant Ave. I drive through these allot and they are bad. They just installed red light cameras last year and they caught in one intersection, in one month 485 violaters. They have since installed them at more intersections throuhout the us-1 corridor.

We have always dreamed of living near Walt Disney World. Celebration was the place we had planned to retire to, till recently, when we found that Disney dumped it. Now we are dreaming of other locations in Florida, near Disney. We want to be able to go to Walt Disney World during the off season. Things are pretty messed up here, and won't ever be the same again, so the dream may come true sooner. We have lived here all our lives, so it is kind of scary, moving the family to the "unknown".
