Re: T-Rex Cafe
We arrived at T-Rex 20 minutes before our reservation and the wait was five minutes so we cancelled our reservation and walked in. I guess it depends on the timing.
It is prehistoric a Rainforest Cafe. Great scenery, dinos come to life in a meteor shower every twenty minutes and the food is good enough. We followed a member's recommendations and went with the ribs. They were pretty good!

Brian845 - Did you guys do the T-Rex this past trip? What did you think?
Re: T-Rex Cafe
Yep, we sure did!:) They couldn't find our reservation, but they were able to seat us right away. We sat in the "Fern Forest" room, and our table was right next to an animatronic baby triceratops, so my children were heartily entertained during dinner.NaCler wrote:Brian845 - Did you guys do the T-Rex this past trip? Dinner was good, I had no cause for complaint with either the food or the service.
Both my children wore earplugs during dinner, since the crowd noise was kind of loud, as was the meteor shower (one is on the autism spectrum and has sensory issues, the other has tubes in his ears and is sensitive to loud noises).
We went home with 2 build your own dinosaurs. One was a green triceratops named "Sareo", and the other a red brachiosaurus, inexplicably named "Triceratopsy"...5 year olds will do what they will I guess. My wife tried to avoid having to buy the dinosaurs clothing, but I knew that was a futile effort, so each one came home with an outfit.

I bring earplugs to Disney as well. I have problems with loud noises and suffered severely when we went to Universal many years back. I think Disney has toned a lot of things down though, I didn't have to wear them quite as often this past trip.

Brian: out of curiosity - does your son with the sensitive hearing ever have problems with his ears popping when flying?Brian845 wrote:Both my children wore earplugs during dinner, since the crowd noise was kind of loud, as was the meteor shower (one is on the autism spectrum and has sensory issues, the other has tubes in his ears and is sensitive to loud noises).

Brian - If you get the chance, please post a pic of the 2 dinos they created. I'm sure everyone on here would like to see those guys all dressed up.
Re: T-Rex Cafe
Maybe...When we were arriving at Orlando, I was trying to explain to them how to make their ears pop by opening their mouth wide. I'm not sure how well it worked, since they are young and not necessarily able to elaborate on how their ears feel.mindflipper wrote:Brian: out of curiosity - does your son with the sensitive hearing ever have problems with his ears popping when flying?Brian845 wrote:Both my children wore earplugs during dinner, since the crowd noise was kind of loud, as was the meteor shower (one is on the autism spectrum and has sensory issues, the other has tubes in his ears and is sensitive to loud noises).

I'll have to take some portrait pictures of them tonight, since the candid shots we have at the resort aren't very illustrative of their finery.NaCler wrote:Brian - If you get the chance, please post a pic of the 2 dinos they created. Re: T-Rex Cafe
I feel bad for putting in my two cents on this restaurant because some here seemed to like it, but I really don't like it at all. It was way overpriced, nothing more than expensive theme park food, and it took a long time with the food finally coming out cold. They appear to have a hard time getting everyone's food done at the same time, so some things must have sat in the window for a while waiting for other plates to get done. The theming was ok, but my recommendation would be to go to the bar and grab a drink, then go to the shop and experience the whole Dino theme thing... then go eat somewhere where there is good food. Also if anyone in your group is "older" like grandparents maybe, it will be way too loud and chaotic. I suppose that is part of why I didn't like it as well because we went with a big group of 8 people two being my parents and my sister who is Autistic. Too loud for them!

Re: T-Rex Cafe
I saw on the news once they were talking about a study that some people who have hearing problems/loud sensitivity also have problems flying because there ears can't pop, and have to use ear plugs when they fly, too.Brian845 wrote:Maybe...When we were arriving at Orlando, I was trying to explain to them how to make their ears pop by opening their mouth wide.
