That would be incredibly tacky but not totally unexpected.

I have heard people do this. I wouldn't think it was worth it unless you were driving though. Can you imagine having to pay baggage fees for Halloween candy?!boilerbabe wrote:Yea, I dunno what they do with those garbage bags full of candy?! Unless they were going to give it out on Halloween to trick or treaters?!

Why would it be so bad to hand that candy out to trick or treaters? If we make it to the MNSSHP, I'll probably give out our leftover candy to ToTers. It would save money on purchasing candy since we would have spent $100.00 to get into the party.

But if you're a local, you could enjoy the MNSSHP, collect the candy, and hand it out on Halloween. And if you take your kid along, they could get enough candy that they would not need to go out on Halloween. There could be some advantages to it..Amy wrote:I have heard people do this. It just is, it's like going out to dinner and taking extra bread to give to someone else. It's not criminal, just really poor form.NaCler wrote:Why would it be so bad to hand that candy out to trick or treaters? But they think of themselves as having done something good for the environment: they've recycled candy from WDW and given to the kids on Halloween. Just think about the impact of not having to add to the garbage dump...Wizzard419 wrote:It just is, it's like going out to dinner and taking extra bread to give to someone else. I'm not talking about going through the lines over and over for the purpose of accumulating candy to hand out on Halloween. I'm just saying that people report getting tons of candy, so you take a little for yourself and use the left-over for handouts. That's not wrong.Wizzard419 wrote:It just is, it's like going out to dinner and taking extra bread to give to someone else. But I can still find it easy believe some people would go through the lines over and over JUST to accumulate candy to hand out on Halloween...NaCler wrote:I'm not talking about going through the lines over and over for the purpose of accumulating candy to hand out on Halloween. I figured the people with the loads of candy were locals, I would never pay baggage fees to take that home with me. We accumulated a ton of candy just from the short time we were there, and we weren't going through the lines over and over. I don't think there's anything wrong in handing out your leftover candy.

Re: Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party
It's not really a debate over right and wrong since the candy is for consumption by people who paid to get in, not the general public. If you were a guest at someone's house and saw they had extra rolls of toilet paper in the bathroom would you take one? It's not fiscally hurting either party but it's just really poor form. Kind of like these ladies here, sitting in a B&N writing down recipies from cookbooks without buying anything (that might be a copyright thing though).NaCler wrote:I'm not talking about going through the lines over and over for the purpose of accumulating candy to hand out on Halloween. Heck, for all we know the remaining candy is then donated to children's homes and so forth since they do ask for donations during halloween.

About the "scary" hours ... what exactly does that mean? Does it get scary after a certain time? I've never been before - always wanted to go, but wondered if it was a little too childish for my husband and I at 30 years old (with no children to bring)?? Not that I don't like childish - I prefer subtle scary fun over people chasing you with chainsaws (Universal Studios). But I just wonder if I should wait till I have my own children if it's geared specifically for children... any response would be great!!nicklesm17 wrote:ya, i'll be there, but we won't be in the park during the"scary" hours. it's nice, the parade very is good, but the firework display is substandard (if you're comparing it to wishes). i think for the extra price, the fireworks should be superior, not less. i guess the true value here is the extended hours, and virtually wait free lines to every ride (that is still open). also, the fun costumes many of the character's are wearing. i think my personal favorite is the headless horseman, when and where else are you ever going to see him. just be in your parade spot early, he comes through quick, and well ahead of the parade! there are some fun souvenirs given out at a few of the candy lines as well. this is something that we'll probably do more regularly as the children get older, can stay up later, and take advantage of being able to hit more rides more often. still, if you've never done it, it's worth checking out, i'm sure you'll have fun. oh ya, they give a special photopass card out during those hours, you can't use your regular. don't worry, it can be combined with your regular photopass before you leave. just bring your cards to any camera shop in any of the lands and they'll put 'em together for you so you won't be extorted for 2 cd's!

Nope, it's not scary at all the whole time. The "scary" hours they were referring to was the time of the MNSSHP, which is 7pm-Midnight, I believe. It is geared towards children so many adults without kids would find it very cheesy. However, if you love Disney and the different decorations for the seasons, you would probably like it. You see a lot of good costumes as well. Take a chance on it, the parade is really good.L3PCT wrote:About the "scary" hours ... what exactly does that mean? Does it get scary after a certain time? Re: Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party
I don't know about WDW's Halloween Party, but we went to DL's Halloween Party last year (we are a childless couple in our 30's) and we had the same reservations...we had a blast! There were folks of all ages (yes, even older folks in ECVs...) there having a great time! We saw many childless couples as well. We weren't intending on getting much candy (maybe enough to snack on
) but we ended up with so much...we just walked through a couple of candy lines.
The parade and fireworks were fabulous, but we loved seeing the costumes! So much creativity!!!

I've heard such good things about the parade that I checked it out on youtube. I'm not a fan of parades and I would still like to go to the Halloween party some time since the parade looked so awesome!!NaCler wrote:Nope, it's not scary at all the whole time. You've still got that AP that's collecting dust, and airlines are putting out their fall deals...Amy wrote:I've heard such good things about the parade that I checked it out on youtube.
