Thanks for the feedback, guys - I was nervous about riding this, but I think I'll give it a go!
Oh, man. DEFINITELY don't be nervous about it. I don't think it's any scarier than Goofy's coaster... In fact, it's quite a bit smoother.
Er... But... Not to burst your bubble, but I don't think the ride opens officially until April. Though, I've also heard that there will be intermittent times they'll be open to the general public. You might want to look into those and see if you can't nail it on one of those days.

I mean, I've been going on the Kraken and Hulk and Spiderman rides for years and it never grows old. Yet, for whatever reason, I don't see that as happening with this one...
Totally see your point and I do think coaster aficionados will be disappointed if they're looking for the sheer thrill aspect. But like you said, if I'm looking for the big thrills I'm heading over to Universal for Hulk, Busch for Sheikra and Sea World for Kraken - but if I'm looking for the magic of Disney I'll definitely queue up for EE multiple times every year on our trips!
To me it's just as great as TOT, Space Mountain, RNR and better than BTMRR - all of which are classics to me and highly repeatable.

Greater than Tower of Terror?!??! That's blasphemy! There is no greater thrill ride experience than Tower of Terror!

Better than Thunder Mountain? Now that's blasphemy! Well I only went Everest once, but it should be more exciting the second time around...whenever that is. Everest is thrilling, but it's still a Disney ride.

Ooo... See. I hate Thunder Mountain. At least Everest has the Yeti factor (which is worth it all on its own). Thunger Mountain is just a short bit of a tame roller coaster.

Awww. Can't win them all. The yeti is pretty awesome! Too bad you only see it for a few seconds. I wonder how huge it is!

Ha hah! I know! I was all "Look at how coooooool........", and then it was gone. I wonder if it wouldn't be as cool if you got to examine it close up. But... man... I bet that thing was at least fifteen feet tall. Though it's hard to guess when he's just a billowing blur going by at fifty miles an hour.

And did you notice the ambient mountain wind noises? That sounded like you were actually high up a mountain? That was freakishly cool.

I really only remember a few things about the ride: the yeti, going backwards and a broken track. I think I was too excited to really notice a whole lotta things.

How can you hate Big Thunder Mountain!?!
It just epitomises disney. It may not be the fastest, newest etc. but it has amazing themeing and it's one of the great classics!

See, that's actually why I DON'T like BTM... To me, it doesn't feel like a Disney ride. It feels so typical that you could probably stick it in any theme park and it would feel right in. I know that it works within the confines of the area, but it just is missing a certain je nais se quois. It's actually the only ride in all of Disney I feel that way about for some reason. It just doesn't feel Disney-fied to me.

Added: I had a good laugh the other day when someone pointed out that Everest was now the highest mountain peak in the entire state of Florida. Just something to think about.
