Re: License plates and other car embellishments
You know, I'm not one of the "normal" guys either. I'm anal about my baby, too. That's why in the pic I was all apologizing for the "layer of dirt" that apparently only I could see.mindflipper wrote:Never got your copy of the Guy Code, did ya?Len90 wrote:I like to keep my car clean which means that there is no dirt on the floor and no dust on the dash. Car got torn apart yesterday for the vaccum. It's crazy how dirt gets in places you least expect. Dusting and interior cleaning is next up followed by the exterior when it gets a garage. I completely back b-babe in wanting a clean car but there are moments when I just don't have the time to do what I want. I'm actually embarrassed by how dirty the exterior is right now!
Mindflipper, I am exactly like b-babe. It just sometimes I don't have the time to keep my X as clean as I want it to be. It will never be disgustingly dirty but there are times when it will not be spotless. She'll be 4 years old on the 19th when we leave for WDW. I'll definitely be bringing it back a birthday gift!Guys back up guys. That's the code.

Okay, I might as well confess - I am more like you and Boilerbabe: I do not keep my car dirty/trashy. I actually keep a plastic bag in my car to collect any garbage, which I throw away once a week with garbage collection. It might not be OCD spotless, but it's clean. But as far as guys go, that is not the norm. From what I have seen, most guys are more like Boilerdude.
Believe it or not, my truck is an '07 but people who don't know what the various year models look like still think it's brand-new. So.... no, the "guy code" is not as universal as some people might think.

Re: License plates and other car embellishments
Yay mousekedude for being just as anal. The dealership was actually in shock when I brought it in for service and they saw it was going to be 4. The car is kept clean and driven easy. I actually set an unofficial record at my dealership for getting the most miles without needing a brake job. I was at 48,500 when it had to get done. The average driver will need brakes between 35,000-40,000 miles.
Amy, Mickey and Donald will vacate their space on the rare occasion a drink is brought into the vehicle. I don't really like food and drinks in the vehicle but there are unfortunately times when I will have something. Safari Mickey was the original and has been riding with me since the car was brand new.

LOL all the guys I know are car slobs like Boilerdude. Maybe another sign you're a WDW nut is that you're not a car slob (and Boilerdude is the odd exception)...

Thanks b-babe! I used to be dead set against the food and drink in the vehicle but I kind of become more mellow and allow covered drinks in the car. However there has to be cup holder protection used. I hate the ring stains at the bottom of the cup holders.boilerbabe wrote:I'm so glad there are others that share my anal car problem! Thanks guys!!! Don't keep some wipes in the car to clean those cup holders?

Re: License plates and other car embellishments
Having something handy to clean it is nowhere near as effective and satisfying as keeping it from getting messy in the first place! You "sloppy cup holder" types just wouldn't understand.

Wow ~ I think I could make you all shudder if I took a photo of the current state of my cup-holdersMousekedude wrote:Having something handy to clean it is nowhere near as effective and satisfying as keeping it from getting messy in the first place! I don't think I fret about as badly as you may, but I'm not sloppy either. I guess that means you don't allow any consumable liquids of any type in the car?

Re: License plates and other car embellishments
No liquids are allowed in my Stang, nor is any food. I only transport my coffee if I'm going to work in the Stang. I have those stones that go into the cup holder, they have a Purdue "P" on them, of course. If I put liquids in my Hyundai, I will put a napkin down first. I hate when drinks "sweat". Augh!
You're o.k. Amy, you have a reason for stuff in your cup holders! B-dude has absolutely no reason, he's just a slob!!!
I've been trying to train him for many years now, I think some of it has worked but he's def. a work in progress.

Re: License plates and other car embellishments
The only liquids I tend to have in my car is a bottle of water, but not cold - just at room temperature. Condensation can make a bottle slippery safety hazard...

This is very true mindflipper!!! Sometimes I'm going to run though, and I have a sweaty bottle, so the napkin trick works well.mindflipper wrote:The only liquids I tend to have in my car is a bottle of water, but not cold - just at room temperature.
