T-Rex Cafe

So we're thinking of dining at the T-Rex cafe on our upcoming trip. Has anyone eaten there? Do we need reservations?

No reservations are needed. It's EXACTLY like Rainforest Cafe, so if you walk up before it gets busy you can walk right in. The food is basically the same and they have a meteor shower every 15 minutes. I would only do it if you have kids that are begging you and that like dinosaurs. If it's just adults, I'd recommend skipping it as it is over-priced, not-that-great food.

We liked the food a lot, but did find it to be over-priced (but what isn't)? Like NaCler said, it is just like Rainforest Cafe, except it is a prehistoric theme. You don't need reservations, but I would recommend them. Not sure if you can book it in advance or if you have to call that day (I can't remember what we did), but at the very least, I would call in the morning you plan on going and asking them if you can have a reservation for the time you would like to eat.

They do NOT take reservations, make note (at least according to my WDW dining app). It's all walk-up. So you kind of are stuck waiting (but they don't care, hello, look at the gift shop, what's it there for?). The atmosphere is fun and the food okay but I'd spend my money elsewhere, honestly.

Thanks for the definitive info on reservations! I tried making some online through the Disneyworld website, and it said they didn't have any left. They might make a few reservations available to the Disney reservation system, but the rest must all be walk up.

I understand that we'll be looking at the gift shop, and probably buying 2 of the "build your own dinosaurs" for our children. *sigh*, they have so many stuffed animals already...

My wife and I walked in earlier in the year and sat at the bar. Directly next to us was a family of 4 at the bar with 2 small children so you may want to look at that. I had ribs which were awesome, and my wife had a pasta dish. The bar is more of an under the sea theme and was beautiful! It is pricey, but then again, it's at WDW what isn't?

I'm hoping to visit the T-Rex cafe in Nov. I'm going for a long weekend to Winter Garden to visit my B/F and Godson! This is one of his fav. places to eat!

Seriously, they have a build-a-dinosaur? That sounds like it would be fun for kids that really like dinosaurs!

Leaving for Disney Sunday. We have reservations for T-Rex on Monday evening. Heard the food is not great but my 3 1/2 year old LOVES dinosaurs and knows the names of a bunch of them so I have to go! It's ok, it won't be the last bad burger I eat in my life and seeing my son's face will be worth it! LOL

Well, I can't say for 100% certainty, but maybe the app is referring to whether or not the central reservation number can make reservations for T-Rex? I am pretty sure they do make reservations at T-Rex, because I usually call up in the beginning of the day I plan on eating there and seeing what times they have available, and put my name down for one of them. They might not make ADRs, which that app might refer to as well, but I know they do (or at least did on my last trip in May) take same day reservations.

Here's an update on the reservation thing...I called and was able to get priority seating for a particular time (which may or may not be the same as a reservation, depending on your definition). The number I called is (407)828-8739, rather than going through Disney Dining (who just transfer you to the T-Rex Cafe number anyway).

That is what I was referring to, although technically not considered a "reservation". Sorry for the terminology. I use that word loosely. To me, a reservation is calling a place before I go and telling them what time I would like to come and them taking my name down for that time.

However, like you said, they will take your name down for that time for priority seating. You will still need to check in at the desk and possibly wait a few minutes for a table to be available, therefore, technically it is not a reservation!

I think that was the biggest gripe I had with T-Rex Cafe, was the prices. For two people, we ended up eating for 90 dollars, and that was with a drink for each of us.
