That must be under wraps yet as I am not able to find any photos of the full marathon medal. I'm curious if anyone has ever tried to complete the Coast to Coast challenge ~ running at both WDW and DL?!boilerbabe wrote:Can anyone post a pic. of the Mickey medal??? Just curious, not that I will earn one of those. But, I have several friends running, and now they're curious!

Re: 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend
I wanted to do it in 2009...but wasn't able to get to CA at that time.
I hear the DL Half is fun, but I would be scared it wouldn't be nearly as fun as WDW...since part of the race is just around Anaheim and not just on Disney property.

I admit, being able to run around the property is the biggest draw for me....not a big enough draw for me to actually run mind you, but it's temptingtheBIGyowski wrote:I wanted to do it in 2009...but wasn't able to get to CA at that time.

Do they change the medals every year then?

Not to my knowledge, I think for a couple years of the 1/2 they only changed the lanyard of the medal. Last year I know you were able to vote on the Mickey, I'm wondering if that one will be the same this year?Sleepy90 wrote:Do they change the medals every year then?

Re: 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend
Hi, everybody! I just now discovered this thread (thanks to a tip from Amy), and like B-babe said a while back, Mouseoholic and I are signed up for the 5K. I know that's nothing compared to all you veterans... and I'm really excited for all who are running the bigger races, by the way... but for me this is quite an accomplishment. You see, many years ago I was a devoted runner... ran at least 3 times a week for at least 6 miles per time, followed by workouts with weights... but then a lot of injuries and surgeries (and other mayhem in life) got in the way. So I've been very out of shape for the past 10 years or so. But now that I've signed up for a run at WDW in January, I have new motivation to get back to what I once was. I owe part of this inspiration to Boilerbabe, too... she has motivated me to get out of my depression and get back in the groove. So anyway, with her encouragement, over the past month I've been working hard on getting back into running shape... and I'm proud to report that I've gone from being a couch potato a month ago to running 5K this morning in 39 minutes flat! So I've already surpassed the minimum qualification time for the January WDW 5K, and I'm aiming to shave at least 5 to 10 minutes more off of that time before we actually get there for the big day! I'm so excited....

Re: 2012 WDW Marathon Weekend
Do you have to show any proof of your qualification time or do you have to run in any prior runs to qualify for the WDW runs, or is it "suggested" that you be able to complete a certain length in a certain amount of time?Mousekedude wrote:Hi, everybody! Way to go M-dude!!!
You've done all of the hard work and should be proud of your accomplishment! Jan. will be a piece of cake!
To answer you question Amy...for the 1/2 and full marathon you must maintain a 16:00 mile, otherwise they will sweep you. If you do not submit a previous race time, you will be placed in the last start corral. So, we used our times from an 8 miler to hopefully get a decent corral. I believe there is a 16:00 mile pace for the 5K *correct me if I'm wrong here* but you don't submit any times for that. Hope that helps!?

I'll second the congrats M-dude! Good for you for getting out and running again especially after taking so many years off. You have plenty of time between now and January to be in very good condition for a 5k. Best of luck in your training.

Thank you! I'm still a little nervous about pain from old foot and ankle surgeries, but so far it's not too bad.cccmouse wrote:I'll second the congrats M-dude! B-babe, thanks for answering the question.
