Sadness, who knows if WoL will ever be open for more than 2 weeks at a time again? It was open from Dec 18. through about the end of Dec./beg. of Jan. for peak season, but it never had a lot of people in it. I rode Body Wars about 5 times that week with no wait whatsoever. All the 80's style bikes are covered up now
I'm not sure if they are actually going to get rid of it or what, nothing is planned as far as I know.

"Thanks for Soarin' with us"

I'm fine with the idea of making rides from the ground up. But the Stitch ride has done a pretty good job of making sure that I DON'T want to see a reworked ride. And 50% of a ride is ambience, if you ask me. Even though I thought Everest was "okay", the theme and setting MORE than made up for it. I don't think a ride has to be all that thrilling (see: roller coaster) to convince people to come back for it again and again. Heck, I probably go on It's a Small World more than any other ride in the park.

Exactly Rich - the imagineers have some great ideas only to be ordered around by the completely uncreative suits... Not the way Disney would have wanted it - let the brains run wild and see what happens.
EE is a case where the money-grubbers didn't get in the way from all we can see becasue it sure looks like the let them have the cash they needed to do it right.
Movie-fication of POTC, pretty sad. They base the movie on the ride which is now based on the movie - start thinking about that one. I still say if it ain't broke don't fix it - and when they can get 30 minute waits in the really dead off season I don't think it is broke. This really strayed from Epcot!

My grandparents went down over the summer (April? May? June?) and they told me they saw a huge crane behind Wonders of Life, and as usual it was closed. I've also heard rumors that a whole new pavillion is on the drawing board.
I'm not sure. I gotta call them later anyway, so I'll find out thenWas there a wrecking ball attached?
I really enjoy the wonders of life.. I just don't get why they don't keep it open untill they decide to replace it.. It contains two really great attractions!

Epcot deserves/needs some work for its birthday. While I don't know if The 3 Cab. would be a very relevent addition to Rio anymore, I can see a LOT of updating in World Showcase for relatively little cost.
A ton of money has gone into making Future World fun again in the last 10 years (although a lot of work is still needed). However, World Showcase has virtually NOTHING to entertain people once they get back there for the food and drinks.
While I love the ambiance, I can't believe how old the attractions feel. A film crew is desperately needed for China, France, Norway and Canada. While they are at it, why not thowing SOME sort of attractions into Germany and Morocco just to even out the flow a little bit.
It doesn't have to be Malestrom, but SOMETHING to make me feel like I can sit down as I walk around the lagoon.
Alternatively, I wondered why they didn't just make World Showcase a free entry and make money on people buying dinner and merchandise. That way, Epcot could have a more cohesive theme and World Showcase could enjoy some increased traffic from the adjoining hotels. Just an idea to tinker with.

Without the world showcase, there would be very little reason to return to Epcot!
That's where all the shows are played during their special months, like the Flower Festival. And the Food and Wine Festival is a big deal for EVERYONE, especially the locals.
As for Pirates of the Caribbean, the thinking behind it was that many young people's first trip on the ride will be because they saw the movies. So you can imagine how many people's reponses to the ride when they got off would be, "Where's Jack Sparrow? And what does this have to do with the movies?" And while it sucks for the people who want the original feel of the ride, it'll likely make a better experience for those first-timers. The only reworking is supposed to be a character or two from each of the three films, and to make the whole thing a little more "undead-y", from what I've heard. I'd also like to hear some better cannon sounds coming from those ships. It sounds like the cannon fire is just from someone blowing their nose.

Point well taken...
I am not a Florida local and have never attended any of the seasonal festivals. Typically, my reason for going to Epcot is for Future World =)

You HAVE to take in the Festivals! They're great! (Though typically really, really busy)
But I agree, as a vacationer the world showcase probably isn't that great of a draw. It's the locals that really use it, and make Epcot one of the more popular parks for year-round visits as opposed to just seasonal.
Have you been to Innoventions since the facelift?
