Wasn't Pan-Pacific also the name of the Paradise Pier hotel back in the 90's?

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Maybe I phrased that badly. I meant that the front of the park isn't very photogenic right now with the construction happening, so it seems like they might not want to offer photos in that particular spot.mindflipper wrote:But isn't Photo Pass for the whole park and both parks too? It would stilll make sense to sell it up front even though its not photogenic spot...
I thought the Paradise Pier was always named that...I don't know for certain though.Wizzard419 wrote:Wasn't Pan-Pacific also the name of the Paradise Pier hotel back in the 90's?

Ah, found the history. Started out as the Emerald of Anaheim, then the Pan Pacific Hotel, then Disney buys it and calls it the Pacific Hotel, and now it's the Paradise Pier hotel.

Thanks for the update MsSwann. I haven't checked the update in awhile so it was nice to see the progress. I can't believe they have the Matterhorn down when they are getting 10 out of 10 on the crowd meter. Why did they have to do it during the summer?

I wonder if they have seasonal senstive work to be done, kind of like how ideally asphault is laid when it's a million degrees out. That and the rusted track sections probably weren't helping.

Not sure why they planned to do the refurb around that time. Maybe they found it easier despite the heat? No clue.

That's nice that they donated the train stuff.
The AP change is kind of weird though, since now you controll the photo. Theoretically, that could lead to some major abuse if you can change the photo whenever you want.
That and someone could always snap a photo of their junk, then whip it out at the gate.

I agree. I'm not keen on the AP change but I would love it if they did it the way Universal does here by scanning your pass (that doesn't have a photo) but does what WDW also does and asks for your fingerprint on a scan.

Hmmm, I forgot about that one element, that means they possibly cannot process Premiere passes anymore since you need to finger a machine they had sent over from WDW at DLR so they can get it in the system.

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Wow it seems like I have missed the past three weeks worth of updates. Glad to see the major transformation is making great strides. The entrance to DCA looks so much different now with the golden gate a thing of the past. To bad there were no progress pictures showing how it looked each day as the sections came down.

I think they did cover the project pretty well with pictures...you might have to go back through some of the old updates. They pretty much removed things in sections...the cables overnight, the upright structures, etc.Len90 wrote:Wow it seems like I have missed the past three weeks worth of updates. That and I don't think they can work on it during the day since people walk under it. The monorail isn't such a big deal since they use to have to run it with only part of the track open.

Re: DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget
Once they close off the remainder of the bridge to start construction, that's when they will start guiding people to enter through the alternative entrance. I'm curious to see how that will work since I tend to use the other entrance through the Grand Californian if I eat at the Storyteller's Cafe.
