Dinsy running events
I had the pleasure to run Princess Half Marathon 2011 ultimately earning the gorgeous Tiara medal. I am seriously looking forward to running Princess 2012. Anyone else? Registration opens July 5!

I would LOVE to run this event, but it never works for us to be there at that time. Can you post a pic. of the medal???
How is the course, how was your time?

Because of my gender I will skip any running event that has the word "princess" in it, but I am registered for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in October.

Re: Dinsy running events
Do they feed you during that one? Or is it just named that because of it running during the Food and Wine festival? I might be persuaded to run...well, jog anyway...ok, at least walk briskly...if I had a snack to look forward to every half mile or socccmouse wrote:Because of my gender I will skip any running event that has the word "princess" in it, but I am registered for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in October.

Re: Dinsy running events
They do not feed you during the race, except for the usual water/powerade/energy bar type stuff. You do get a $10.00 gift card to use after the race during the post race party there at EC where you can use it for food or drink or whatever you would like.Amy wrote:Do they feed you during that one? I thought there was a whole after party with the Food and Wine fest run and you were able to have food etc...after the race?! Maybe I should go back and read up on that one.

I checked the other day & this race is already full.cccmouse wrote:Because of my gender I will skip any running event that has the word "princess" in it, but I am registered for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in October.
I'm not much of a runner - I'm more of an indoor exercise gal - but I think running in wdw would be pretty amazing.
For those of you who have run these races, how crowded is it when you're running?

I've never run the marathon, but I found this from this year's marathon. Looks like the runners are pretty well spread out...disneylizzy wrote:I checked the other day & this race is already full.cccmouse wrote:Because of my gender I will skip any running event that has the word "princess" in it, but I am registered for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon in October.

Yes, there is a big post race party from midnight til 3:00am with all the food and drink booths open but I don't think that the food or drink are included. You must pay for it. That is why they give you a $10.00 gift card with your race packet. But I could be wrong.boilerbabe wrote:I thought there was a whole after party with the Food and Wine fest run and you were able to have food etc...after the race?! Thanks for sharing that, Amy----it was pretty interesting, but I will admit that it got my stomach in knots knowing that I will be doing that in 5+ months! What have I got myself into??!!Amy wrote: I've never run the marathon, but I found this from this year's marathon. Looks like the runners are pretty well spread out...

Wow, the race isn't as crowded as I thought it would be. How neat to have the characters cheering you on!

Re: Dinsy running events
cccmouse: that's pretty sad if they only give you $10 for the post race party. But, I would still run it anyway, sounds like big fun!!!
disneylizzy: it depends which event you run that determines how crowded it is. The Marathon weekend is Disney's biggest draw, it will most likely sell out. I'm not sure anymore at what #'s they cap it out at. But, I do know that with big events, they are very organized. Runners will be assigned a "corral" based on their est. finish times. Disney asked for proof of time when you sign up, so you have to provide a time from a previous race ie. I used my finish time from an 8 mile race from last Sept. And on race morning, you will go to your respective "corrals" and the race start is staggered. That's why they chip time the race, so when you cross the start, that's when your time starts.
It will most likely be crowded for the first few miles, and then things start to thin out.

Re: Dinsy running events
Have a look at Disney Parks Blog, I would have put the link in but I'm not computer minded and failed.
They have done an extreme weight loss with a woman running the Disneyland half marathon. Now I am sure in the actual full length episode that this lady has been put through lots of training for this run, however in the blog it is just a short clip and to my mind Disney are sending out the wrong impression here.
Everyone of us that has trained to do whatever race we have done weather it be a 5k or a marathon will know that you just can not turn up and run a half marathon you need to train, however that being said there will I am sure be someone who sees that clip on the blog and thinks if she can do that so can I. Let's hope that the marketing managers at Disney can live with themselves if something drastic happens.
To the lady in the episode lots of applause and a huge WELL DONE.
