October Rumblings?
Anyone hear any rumblings on discounts for October? I have heard the possibility of Disney not releasing any. Do anyone think this could be true?

I got an e-mail the other day about Florida resident discounts for October and the Not-so-scarey halloween party stuff. I've already deleted it, but some stuff is already coming out...

I'm sure they're going to. There's always rumors that they're not going to release a discount. While Disney has said they were going to scale back on discounts, I think a lot of these rumors are sparked or at least increased because of people worrying about getting a discount for their upcoming trip. I think Disney runs it similar a department store - have you ever gone into a department store when they weren't running some kind of sale or special? Probably not, the items are intentionally overpriced so they can always offer some form of a sale and what varies is how good of a discount it is. The current discount which goes through the beginning of October must be booked by the middle of August, so I'm expecting we'll see the new discount announced when the current one ends or a week or two before then.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I think you're right. They'll always offer some sort of discount. If they don't they'll see their numbers drop and after a few years they'll begin offering them again.Polynesian Princess wrote:I'm sure they're going to. I'm pretty sure that last year at this time, they had already released the Oct. discounts though. Maybe they're just waiting longer?!

We originally had planned a trip for December but then moved it up to get free dining in September. If we had free dining in December we would go then but can't afford a trip without free dining (Saves us several hundred dollars) and we were afraid it wouldn't be offered at that time (and it hasn't yet). That being said we LOVE September too!

September would be pretty good too right? Most of the kids are back in school, it has potential to be a bit cooler, but not cold. Free dining is definitely a nice perkrphillips14 wrote:We originally had planned a trip for December but then moved it up to get free dining in September. We would not go without free dining. It's my wife's favorite part (picking the dining places, making reservations, etc etc). We like to eat in places we haven't ate before.

We don't generally take the time to have table service, that is one reason that free-dining doesn't make much sense for us. But I can see where free dining would be a great way to try different restaurants!rphillips14 wrote:We would not go without free dining. It's GREAT for doing that---there's no way I would have eaten at most of the places I did in December without free dining.Amy wrote:We don't generally take the time to have table service, that is one reason that free-dining doesn't make much sense for us. Re: October Rumblings?
Free dining is back! According to several different postings I've seen, valid dates for this offer include:
2011: Oct. 2-8, Oct 23-Nov 5, Nov 13-19, Nov. 27-Dec 3, Dec 11-17
2012: Jan 8-14, Jan 22- Feb. 4, Feb 12-18, Mar 4-10, Mar 25-31.
Booking must be made by October 29, 2011
Now to decide which is better for us. Free dining or AP discount on the room. F1gment is pulling for the free dining since she loves the freedom. I'm tending to agree since there isn't much of a discount on the value resort rooms anyhow...
