Yes there is a campfire sing a long with Chip & Dale at Fort Wilderness. Here are some of the events there:

Also, don't forget the boardwalk! Its a nice place to walk around during evenings and they have street performers. You can watch movies on the beach across the way at the Beach Club.

Personally, we love visiting some of the resorts and Downtown Disney, just like most of the posters here. We also like to take the boats around. Hope on the ferry's, take the boats that go to the resorts, etc. We can easily spend an entire day doing "free" or "cheap" things around Disney World that are outside of the parks.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!!! And there are plenty of things to do w/o park admission. It's already been mentioned, but the mini golf is loads of fun!!! My fav. thing to do outside the parks, is to sit on the beach at the Poly and watch the light pageant and then the fireworks from MK!!!
Resort hopping is also fun, check out all of the lobbies!

My favorite non-park activity is waking up early and catching the bus from my resort to the MK and then taking the motor launch from the MK dock over to the Fort Wilderness Campground for the breakfast buffet at the Trails End Restaurant... Sunrise over Bay Lake is awesome!! then you can walk around the campground and see the sights!

One resort activity could be night viewing of the animals at AKL

Are there places at AKL to view the animals if you are not a guest staying at that resort?leblanan wrote:One resort activity could be night viewing of the animals at AKL

We are planning a trip in September and have planned the day in which we going to the Halloween party-to go to Clearwater early that morning (confusing, I know). We're getting a van and leaving that morning about 7 AM and arriving at Clearwater about 9 AM and then coming back home to Disney about 3 PM-just in time for the Halloween party. I can't wait...my kids have never seen the coast.

Renting bikes at either Ft. Wilderness or Wilderness Lodge is really great!. There is a path between the two resorts. Very peaceful way to spend some time

That's a good point, I'm not sure if it is only for resort guests, but the night viewing activities are right where you normally view the animals at the Jambo HouseAmy wrote:Are there places at AKL to view the animals if you are not a guest staying at that resort?leblanan wrote:One resort activity could be night viewing of the animals at AKL

Do they require you to show any resort ID to be in that area?leblanan wrote:That's a good point, I'm not sure if it is only for resort guests, but the night viewing activities are right where you normally view the animals at the Jambo HouseAmy wrote:Are there places at AKL to view the animals if you are not a guest staying at that resort?leblanan wrote:One resort activity could be night viewing of the animals at AKL
Re: Best Things to Do Outside of the Park
To drive into the resort yes, you have to either be staying there or have a dinner reservation, however one can simply take a bus from one of the parks or DTD, they don't check then. Once inside your free to observe the animals from any of the public viewing areas.Amy wrote:Do they require you to show any resort ID to be in that area?leblanan wrote:That's a good point, I'm not sure if it is only for resort guests, but the night viewing activities are right where you normally view the animals at the Jambo HouseAmy wrote: Are there places at AKL to view the animals if you are not a guest staying at that resort?

Re: Best Things to Do Outside of the Park
you do not need to be staying at the resort or a dining reservation to enter. I just drove up last year and said I wanted to show my wife the hotel so she may see if she wants to stay there on a future visit. We parked, found a nice fire pit to sit next to for a bit, then found the night vision telescope.(cast members walk around with them).
