Precisely. For Disney, selling off an idea in development allows them to get their money back they've spent on development. I gather this isn't the first time Disney has done this.

I'm not actually talking about it from Disney's end but rather the one buying the concept. Since it's not difficult to get an imagineer, you can get the disney's design practicies and not have to pay the disney company a cent. That's one of the reasons why the detail for the harry potter land is so well done, imagineers jumped at the chance to do it.

Agreed. It needs SOMETHING. DAK is more of a half-day park, at least for me, and you'd think Disney would want to draw people in, not have them do everything in a morning then leave.rphillips14 wrote:I wish AK had at least one more big ride.

I wouldn't mind another attraction, but I really enjoy this park. There is so much to look at and I love photographing the animals. The only disappointment for me is that the park closes early, although I can understand the reasoning with the animals having to be cared for before being tucked into bed.Soarin08 wrote:Agreed. I agree that it is a half day park. It needs a new section, and since the mythical animal section is gone, they need something else to replace it...

They have plenty of space that they haven't used.. but the problem is what can they do with it. They call it not a zoo, but in many ways it is. I wish that they would go back to the whole imaginary animals that they had planned originally. They could do a lot with that.

I would say its just a matter of time. They know based on the numbers that go through the gates. When the numbers start to drop they will add something just like they did everest.

The benefit of WDW's larger percentage of tourists vs Disneyland is that they don't have to add stuff as rapidly since it may have the "new ride" draw for several years.
I wonder if part of the reason they don't go full theme park with AK is the whole message of it being like a wild animal park, not so much the thrills but rather the animals.

It would be okay if there was enough animal exhibits to consume your time - but there's not. Most of the animals are on the safari ride, which doesn't give you much time to look at the animals. It's not like a zoo where you can move at your own pace from amimal habitat to the next.
Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
The mythical animal section might could still work, with the number of younger kids so into things like Harry Potter and all (I'm not saying specifically Harry Potter-type things, leave that to Universal). Or maybe a section with more North American animals. It's all exotic from Africa and Asia...mindflipper wrote:I agree that it is a half day park. I absolutely love Disney's Animal Kingdom. There are a lot of people who don't like this park due to the fact that there isn't too many "E-Ticket" rides here. For me it is my med-trip park. I love that it is a slower paced park, nice and relaxing, especially after a busy busy day at the Magic Kingdom the day before.

I am not a fan of roller coasters, I have never ridden Everest (and don't plan to) and I still love AK. I love the Kali River Rapids, the Jungle Walk, Rafiki's Planet Watch ( minus the smelly petting zoo) and the animal exhibits. And the music is my favorite overall of any park. There are a few individual pieces of music from other parks I like more, but as a whole package, AK is the best.
