No monorail service during EMH

Re: No monorail service during EMH
Seeing as I'll be at Pop, won't affect me this time around... but I think the monorails are more efficient than the busses at times. That's just me.

It also saves since they have all those for the monorail too which means everyone is done early! Also the janitors and so forth can get started earlier which may reduce the need for total numbers of them as well.

I think the more ways they can get people out of the park, the better. With 3 choices (bus, boat, monorail) people could get onto some mode of transportation quicker. Without the monorail, I wonder if there will be a bigger gaggle of people at the front entrance for a longer period of time? Maybe this is what Disney is trying to test closing off the monorails after regular park closing?

They're closing the monorails for the EMH late hours. By then, much of the park has already emptied...

If I recall, they would run 1 hour after closing as well, right? So it would be an hour into EMH before the trains stopped.

Yes, that is what they said. Plus they did say they are doing this so they will have time to work on planned maintenance...Wizzard419 wrote:If I recall, they would run 1 hour after closing as well, right? So it would be an hour into EMH before the trains stopped.

I frankly don't think that this would be that big of a deal...

This is the same company that has people cry when they switched paper towel brands in the bathrooms.

My guess is that on an average length vacation (1 week), this might come into play maybe once or twice, perhaps 3 times if you go during a peak time. Other that that, nothing to see here....

Re: No monorail service during EMH
I am a bit surprised by this move. I can tell you that without the monorail it can become a real pain to get around. I was in WDW when the accident happened and Disney did not have the bus capacity to cover the monorail. It took Disney transport and three motor coach companies to barely cover the monorail andservice was sub par at best between the three resorts, ttc, MK, and EPCOT. In addition to the buses Disney tried running every boat. All three MK/TTC ferries were running as well. I know it is an hour after park closing and crowds are not nearly as big a problem. Now given they can pull from AK and DHS to provide the additional buses.
Am I the only one who sees an issue with this. They state EPCOT starts July 11th and MK will start Aug. 1... Doesn't the EPCOT line need to use the MK lines to switch to the garage? Couldn't Disney run that line longer past closing to allow MK trains to switch off. If MK is open to 10 or 11 and EPCOT is closed at 9 with EMH to 12, then monorail service will stop at 10pm from EPCOT but the trains will have to still sit and wait until 11 or 12 so they can start to switch off?

But weren't the trains closed for days since it was an accident? Thus, they were closed during the busy times rather than just the slow times. As MFer said, the parks are pretty dead as the hours roll by.
They can stop the line to allow the switches, since they are generic trains they just have to either just take trains off the hotel loop or space them out till they get them back to the garage.

This is news to me. I guess it makes sense on the saving money end of things.

After the accident, the monorail was closed for two days, if I remember correctly. I was on my CP then.Wizzard419 wrote:But weren't the trains closed for days since it was an accident? I find not running them ridiculous. One night this winter they were down for maintenance and you should have seen the way we were packed on the ferry!! Almost didn't seem safe.

But was that during normal park hours or the extended time?
