Well, I'm trying to remember what is in the back because they certainly wouldn't want to have to knock out any of the ampitheatre. There was just a really nice photo report on ThemeParkReview about a charter air company and they had aerial photos of the Fantasmic area along with a lot of the rest of the Disney complex (but not the MK, evidently that is in a strict no-fly zone) I don't know, I just don't see Disney ponying up the money to have World of Color in Florida. They do like keeping some things park specific...mindflipper wrote:If so, how hard would it be to expand the water area when installing the rest of the WoC gear...Amy wrote:Isn't that kind of small-ish?mindflipper wrote:However, I think it could work at current show area for Fantasmic over at DHS...

It's small but it might work if they got rid of the island, since the cast range for the lasers and projections wouldn't be an issue. The only problem is that, like with fantasmic, the area is built for the show and some of the atmospheric stuff would have to go (like the heavy use of Mickey's Fun wheel for the segments) and then there would also be nothing but a void to trees and a parking lot.
Expansion is out of the question since one side is a major road and the other is the main waterway connecting resorts.

Then again, if they could make mini-Fantasmic for DHS, then why not mini-WoC instead in its placed?

Because people still line up for hours to see Fantasmic?

Well, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Aquatopa for two...and the awesome Pooh! I know, TDL and TDS are a completely differently funded animal...the holiday overlays here in the states are only at DLR and not at WDW at all.mindflipper wrote:Such as...?Amy wrote:They do like keeping some things park specific...

I like Fantasmic myself, but I wouldn't mind a slight refurb either....

Yeah, you're not getting an overlay anytime soon either since WDW's numbers must not sag enough to merit it.
It use to be you go during october/end of sept. and it would be dead, now it's slammed. I can only muster 1-2 rides during the entire span that ghost galaxy is open since it gets popular fast.

Journey to the Center of the Earth was originally planned for DHS, and Aquatopia was originally planned for one of the water parks too. I wouldn't be surprised if some day Journey did not end up at Diz Paris Studios. They did up Pooh and Buzz differently over at TDL because they had more space than they did at WDW.Amy wrote:Well, Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Aquatopa for two...and the awesome Pooh! As for the holiday overlays, that's just because WDW management is too friggin' cheap...

If not replacing WoC, they consider re-doing it. It's just a bad imitation in its current form.

But why spend money to change something that is already popular with paying customers in it's present form?

I think Wizzard has hit the nail on the head. Fantasmic's attendance would probably have to take a sharp downturn before they would consider revamping or replacing it entirely.Wizzard419 wrote:But why spend money to change something that is already popular with paying customers in it's present form?

Overlays also are to help draw in locals, so WDW can have overlays once locals start going to the parks in large enough numbers to be noticed... that and their whole forclosure nightmare.

I wonder if Fantasmic hasn't had some drop in numbers - they had reduced it to one night a week and only have it more than that during the summer time. After all, there's nothing else going on at night at DHS so it does have its own built-in captive audience.

Considering the target demographic doesn't consistently take vacations all year long and the local attendance doesn't seem to be that high, they scale back during the off season.

I would guess it helps hold down operating costs to show it less frequently during the slow seasons...Wizzard419 wrote:Considering the target demographic doesn't consistently take vacations all year long and the local attendance doesn't seem to be that high, they scale back during the off season.

It's the one thing they cannot change, and don't really want to change since the slow season is when all the refurbishments happen. DLR this year didn't have the normal slow season and ended up being jammed while main street was heavily walled off for resurfacing.
