It's been too long since I contributed here (since my Flickr account expired and I have yet to renew), I managed to find one I sent to my Facebook from my phone. This was during the soft opening for The Little Mermaid ride at DCA.

I agree, it's a good shot with the sun rays. Reminds of the scene from the film with her on the rock singing...Amy wrote:Cool! I love the sun-rays peeking in over the top of the attraction

Wow! I really need to make the effort to get there during the flower and garden festival I guess. Beautiful photos! One of my favorite flowers are snapdragons so those were awesome to see ~ and Mr. Butterfly having a drink is pretty darned cool
Was that in the butterfly house?

Out of curiosity: was the african cats sand display covered? What would have happened if it had rained?

The African Cats was not covered. My guess its, if ti was they would have put something over it. They did have large umbrellas over the guys building it. It was actually incomplete while we were there. During the time it was being built is a very dry season in Florida as well. Up until the past 3 weeks we have had very little rain for 6 months.

Isn't it almost the season for the daily afternoon cloudbursts though?!yodiwan1 wrote:The African Cats was not covered. My guess its, if ti was they would have put something over it. Did you notice any signage explaining how they get the sand to stay so nicely compacted for them to sculpt it?

Couldn't do it now - we've been having rain for today and the last 2 days (still not enough to make up for earlier dry spell)...

yodiwan, I am in complete awe of your butterfly picture. I love butterflies and they hold special meaning to me. The photographer in me has longed to take such an exquisite picture! (I have even tried to get some pics of bees in the flowers to no avail)
I'm not knocking the other pictures as they were a amazing, but the butterfly picture takes the cake for me.
