They're really lacking with food options and in a park so richly themed as that one, they could come up with some stellar restaurants, I think. Maybe get rid of that Rainforest Cafe for starters and put something else in, they already have one at DTD, so why two?jacobcary1 wrote:Agreed with the dining option.

Doesn't AK close a lot earlier than the other parks, even during the busy times? If I recall the exhibits do become less active during dusk/nightfall and they don't have nocturnal exhibits.

It does close early, around 5 each evening. We lucked out when we were there in December since they still had an Extra Hours Magic evening. The animals go back to bed relatively early...Wizzard419 wrote:Doesn't AK close a lot earlier than the other parks, even during the busy times? I thought so, even if it weren't for animal welfare stuff they simply have no activity after a certain point. That also explains why they don't really have much to choose from for dining since the latest they can serve would be old people dinner.

Not generally, but if I had a late brekkie, and no lunch, then a 4 o'clock dinner wouldn't be out of the question!Wizzard419 wrote:Yes, but do you eat at 4 PM?

It's been staying open till around 8pm this spring. Next month it will be open (during my stay) until 8 every evening.Wizzard419 wrote:Doesn't AK close a lot earlier than the other parks, even during the busy times? Our family sometimes to spend more time at the park would do a 2 meal/day while at the parks - have an early breakfast, skip lunch, and have an early dinner. Believe or not, you have no problem getting ADR's for between 2 PM and 5 PM.Wizzard419 wrote:Yes, but do you eat at 4 PM?

Hey, you said it will stay open until 8, do we know when that is going to be? Will that be in February? And if the animals are in, I guess they are assuming people are going to ride rides and see shows??

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
I would wonder if the extended hours are only during the summer season? When we were there, EE was open, It's Tough to Be a Bug, Dinosaur, Festival of the Lion King and a few other attractions. I can't remember if Finding Nemo the musical was running or not, but I don't think so. The main attraction for me was seeing everything all lit up at nightfigmentaholic wrote:Hey, you said it will stay open until 8, do we know when that is going to be? Will that be in February? Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
The 8pm hours usually are only in the late spring and summer. February, the park is usually closed by 5pm.figmentaholic wrote:Hey, you said it will stay open until 8, do we know when that is going to be? Will that be in February? Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
February the park closes at 5pm but has EMH on a Wednesday, that night it is until 8pm. All the animal attractions close at 5pm though so you have Everest, Tough to be a Bug and Dinoland still open, however it is a really nice park to mooch about in after dark.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
figmentaholic, if you are able to fit in the EMH evening in at the AK when you are there, you really should try to go. The park is lit so beautifully at night!!Sleepy90 wrote:February the park closes at 5pm but has EMH on a Wednesday, that night it is until 8pm. Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
I have never gotten to see the park at night. We usually don't do the EMH while we are there because despite them supposing to be less people they are usually more crowded, even in February. But I will run it by the rest of the people in my group to see what they say. I would love to see the AK lit up at night
