Re: Jungle Cruise at night
JC is all about the CM. We've had great CM's that made really fun and last trip we had a kid who was having a bad day or something as he went directly by script in a monotone voice. I'm sure it gets boring to do the same schidt 25 times a day but a good CM makes all the difference.

I agree. No one would go on the Jungle Cruise to see the wildlife, well, except maybe the elephant, and the backside of water!! but the CM's give the attraction personalityrphillips14 wrote:JC is all about the CM. Re: Jungle Cruise at night
Last time we rode Jungle Cruise at night, our CM said to us right before Schweitzer Falls (where the switchback is), "Uh oh, something doesn't feel right about this area. I'm a little worried." All of a sudden coming at us from the other direction was a boatload of CMs hanging over the side of the ship, all faking death poses.
It was so funny! Possibly the best Jungle Cruise moment ever, and it could have only happened at night with too many CMs on the late shift.

That sounds like it was fun for both the guests and the CM's!momeja wrote:Last time we rode Jungle Cruise at night, our CM said to us right before Schweitzer Falls (where the switchback is), "Uh oh, something doesn't feel right about this area. I will have to add this to my Neverdone list!
On our last trip we didn't have any really fun CMs. We went on 4 or 5 times hoping to get a really good one but all of them seemed to shorten the script and rush through the whole ride.
I guess we should have tried it at night.

Totally. I certainly wanted to be a Jungle Cruise CM after that night.Amy wrote:That sounds like it was fun for both the guests and the CM's!momeja wrote:Last time we rode Jungle Cruise at night, our CM said to us right before Schweitzer Falls (where the switchback is), "Uh oh, something doesn't feel right about this area. There's a lot of lights used at nigh so you can easily see everything there is to see just like you would during the day. I actually prefer the night time better, but I'm goofy I suppose.

While I never worked for Disney, I used to work a very similar attraction and it is definitely not easy when you are made to tell the exact scripted jokes that no one laughs at over and over every 10 minutes of every day for the rest of your life...Amy wrote:I agree. Re: Jungle Cruise at night
I was on a cruise like that in DL! No one on the boat spoke any English, and I had just returned from my 'round the world trip and was pure blond so people kept thinking I was Dutch. I have a really hard time laughing at some of those "groaner" jokes anyhow so I kind of sat back and watched the new show ~ the CM really, really, really trying to get through to all the foreigners on the boat. It was fun even though I felt really bad for him. He used a joke at the end about how he really appreciated everyone staying very quiet for the whole cruise. Ahhh, the start of the mayhem years...MmeLeota wrote:While I never worked for Disney, I used to work a very similar attraction and it is definitely not easy when you are made to tell the exact scripted jokes that no one laughs at over and over every 10 minutes of every day for the rest of your life...Amy wrote:I agree. I hold a very high respect for Jungle Cruise Skippers and I attempt to laugh at all the jokes because I know that having a group of people who are at least attempting to enjoy themselves makes the trip more fun for both the skipper and the guest.

Re: Jungle Cruise at night
Yeah, he thanked everyone for staying perfectly quiet, and told us how special he thought we all were. I almost cracked up at that one, but didn't want to give myself awayMmeLeota wrote:Ha ha!!! Thanks ~ I am actually part Dutch, and I got along well with my fellow travelers in Australia who were Dutch, but I did feel a bit bad pretending not to understand English...just a little....jacobcary1 wrote:I guess it would be ok if you were Dutch Amy. lol
