Bad news and good news

Post by subsonic » Jan Wed 11, 2006 3:24 pm

The server that ran the 128k streams has been pulled. This is sad to hear.

The good news is Addlema has donated more bandwidth and we're now hosting 15 96k streams.

I decided that the 128k streams were overkill. Only about 40% of my tracks are in 128k bit. We're splitting the difference and going to 96k. This will result in higher quality than the 64k but still allow for more listeners.

Just wanted to post up here and say a quick Hi.

I have been listening to Subsonic for more then a year now. I love this radio station and so does my family.. Makes us feel like we are back in our Disney home when we are stuck in the boring real world!

Addlema,

thank you so much for helping Sub out. I keep wishing I had a magic wand for him, since this station means so much for my family too, but we don't ahve a web server, nor technology, just a heart filled with appreciation.

Sub,

Thank you! That is great news, and I welcome the 96K streams. Frankly, I never noticed the difference in quality on any of our computers.

Should be a pretty stable set of streams. Let me know if there are any problems.

Hey, if we fill up all 60 user slots for a couple days I'll donate 10 more 96k slots! :)

Thanks addlema for helping out! I'm glad there are people out there who understand how computers work so the rest of us can enjoy the benefits!

Thanks!

Thanks addlema for helping all us Disney fans out! We really appreciate everything that everyone does to keep this site open. Sub and all the admins who bring us smiles each day, we thank you for all of your hard work! I love this site so much and would miss it sooo much if it was no longer available.

I think it is because of the GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS thread. And the beat being skipped is a heart beat. Maybe Mickymac is worried something has bean changed, I know sometimes I am.

So far, this station keeps growing. There's only been one set back with the 128k stream, but that's minor. At least, that's all I can think of. Oh, and my DSL problems when the requests were down for a week or two.
