You have three different views: Map, Satellite, and Earth. Earth is the one that has the 3D buildings and will allow you to roam through WDW, DLR, etc. once you zoom in all the way.
Makes you wonder why Disney doesn't have something like that on their website as part of some "virtual tour"?

If they could figure out a way for it to make them money...they would do it.

I was thinking it would a promotional thing/advertisement to sell people on visiting the parks...

When you click on a building it gives some user taken pictures of the attraction or building, it also links to the Disney website. Its cool to look at the older imagery also, they started on the fantasy land groundwork quite a while ago. In 2005 they removed the building where the expansion will be according to the satellite images.

Disneyland Paris is also in 3D as well.
I wonder why DL in California is not? It just looks like they have the monorail in 3D and nothing else.

No one has designed it yet. All 3d buildings are designed and submitted to google earth from users. It is the same in every city that has any bldgs. My town only has a few. You can design and photo texture the bldgs in Google Sketchup and then submit them to earth with a few limitations of course. Its a very neat process.

Sometimes I roam around Google Earth looking at the parks but then I get depressed and have to quit... yeah. But it is fun when I'm in the mood to do so.

I first discovered this precious little technique back in 2009 when I was really needing some Disney World action!

I know! But it's a nice diversion regardless. I sometimes get on and quiz my mom- "Okay what ride is this? What park? Find Epcot on the map!" :D
